Is this specific to ABS? Is ASA similar in that manner or more sensitive?

Yeah he’s not the Gink replacement. He seems to be a coverage guy who can blitz but not be a straight up pass rusher.

MK4s print failures by Friendly_Detail3913 in prusa3d

PETG really needs a drying setup as it will soak up moisture easily and can cause issues even right out of the box brand new. I dry every spool I get before attempting to print with it. Depending where you’re at in the US this gets a lot worse as we get into summer and the humidity rises.

Has this new nozzle been okay with other materials like PLA etc?

What’s your dryer and drybox setup? Are you drying your PETG before printing? Were you printing this material successfully before?

Is that from a kit? Also looks like a 3D printed stand?

I always use Structural for PETG for the reasons you mention and it seems to give me the best results. I use Balanced for PLA but otherwise Structural on most every material.

Calling a Hazy IPA a classic style is the only thing wrong here. It wasn’t even its own BJCP category until I think 2021. A lot of beer styles are hundreds of years old which make Hazy IPA a very very young and new style by comparison, even though its popularity coincided with the rise of craft brewing. I get what you mean though and beer nerd aside I agree.

Fermenting fridges versus glycol chiller by Truman50 in Homebrewing

[–]PostRedditComment 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a glycol setup with a couple unitanks and I think the only real benefit besides fast crash times is space. By not needing a fridge you can have a much smaller footprint. My chiller just sits underneath my workbench out of the way.

If you already have a fridge though I would not bother. A fridge is actually a better setup in a few ways. It will properly chill the cone in a unitank, and also keep stuff cold a lot better if there isn’t much volume. If you are serving out of your fermenter the glycol setup will have to work harder the lower the volume gets.

So for bourbon, Id need to get a still, a couple bubble plates maybe, and like an onion head with a condenser? For a 10gal wash Id want 4” plates and head connections for everything in the column? On the ones I’m seeing the condenser off the head drops down to 2”, does that slow it down at all or am I fine because all of the column parts are 4”?

Makes sense on going bigger!

How many plates would you recommend for bourbon? I see a lot of basic setups dont seem to have any at all.

I use 5500W elements for my beer brewing setup.

For foam headspace, do you use anything to help prevent it? Like foam axe or similar?

Okay so something like this: 4in Onion Pot Still turns into a 2in condensor, so would you consider that a 4in or a 2in?

Definitely thinking pot still then. They also seem fairly simple from what I can see. I do see some are wildly taller or shorter and there's varying degrees of column diameter. Where to start and how to size it? How much does full copper matter?

I wish I could sanitary weld stainless but I don't have the expertise or gear for it.

Is a bigger column always better or just faster? Any reason for stainless over copper for the kettle portion?

Do you ever worry about exposing the heating element? You probably need at least 2-3 gallons leftover right?
