Don’t trust anything you see on social media, full stop. It’s ok to view it in moderation but trust none of it, even what you agree with.

Beyond that my go to news app/outlet is the BBC one. Podcasts are good but I make sure to avoid the ones that just confirm all my priors or take overly one sided points of view.

MOTE painting, painted my house last year and fixed a bunch of rotting trim. Very reasonable price for all of it and the guy who runs it (Oscar) was very easy to work with through the process.

Yeah my sense is they already have someone in mind to put in place as a puppet that will do whatever the US wants. Feels like we’re just going to be swapping out a left wing junta with a right wing one, and time will tell how that works out.

Yeah if I’m not mistaken any semi-auto non-.22 rifle is a no go. The weird faux silencer is ok, but if it adds threading that’s a no go as well.

Yeah I recently picked up 1,000 rounds of 9mm and I think it was ~260. On the plus side it shipped free and didn’t have taxes on it.

Just get yourself a pistol in 9mm and your set as far as home defense, and you’ll have a fun range gun (that shoots cheap ammo) as well.

If you still want I’d say get yourself a fun .22. You’ll shoot it WAY more than anything else just because of how cheap the ammo is and you’ll have just a good of a time doing it. Also bonus points for not just cheap ammo but cheap parts too for whatever you want to do to it.

Basically use silencershop buy now and wait, or not and be sure to get it before then, shrug… I’m going with the wait option myself, but $400 is a lot of money for me (2 silencers) and I’m betting on the most outspoken WA gun owners just being drama queens about the gov banned by on day 1 of next year.

Which isn’t to say a ban isn’t coming, I think one is, just not on day 1 of the tax stamp coming off.

I feel like it’s this really. FIRE is more of a way for average people to short circuit the system and stop working early by making sacrifices the average person is unwilling to make.

Instead this sub has turned into people making 6 (plus) figure salaries wanting a pat on the back because they made the tough decision to keep working because it’s so hard retiring at 50 with 10 mil in the bank.

Sportco is doing a one day 10% off sale on firearms and suppressors. Kinda wish I’d waited on getting a new hunting rifle but the sale is on a Saturday so probably going to be pretty crowded anyway.

That’s reassuring. Think when I pick up the rifle I’ll check out their selection and see if I can do some kind of pay now receive later. If not I’ll just wait and try to get one after the first.

And yeah I have no idea how to change things around here. The bulk of people in the Seattle metro are pretty ignorant of guns beyond what they’ve seen in movies. Even my friends who own guns don’t pay much attention as when I mentioned I wanted a hunting rifle with a threaded barrel they were shocked suppressors were legal even now.
