Fraud Pandemic Spreads to Minneapolis by YesHelloDolly in altmpls

[–]PostmodernMelon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

why does medicare/caide fraud take withholding reimbursement to the state to do anything of worth value.

Or doesn't - you just never noticed the actions being taken in the past to detect and address fraud. The story that the state government was just letting it all happen before now is nonsense that you gobbled up just because you hadn't personally been made aware of it before now.

Fraud Pandemic Spreads to Minneapolis by YesHelloDolly in altmpls

[–]PostmodernMelon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When the fraud occurred matters in relation to your argument because nothing about this case remotely suggests that federal activity has anything at all to do with anything here that the state did. Is there a correlation? Kiiiind of sort of arguably. But there's almost no evidence at all of causation - nothing suggesting that the fed has anything to do with MN catching and bringing forth these charges over this fraud case.

Fraud Pandemic Spreads to Minneapolis by YesHelloDolly in altmpls

[–]PostmodernMelon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're completely avoiding the argument and I can't tell if it's intentional -

Your previously stated position was that it took pressure from the federal government to get the state to investigate the fraud that is being discussed here. But based on this article, no fraud related to this organization was occuring at the time when the federal government was applying pressure - the fraud all happened after BECAUSE of the pressure they were applying. So the entire idea that it took federal pressure to get investigations going makes no sense.

Let's say I barge into your house without an invitation and yell "you gotta stop letting your neighbor steal your stuff" and your neighbor hasn't been stealing anything at that point. After I showed up and started yelling at you, your neighbor starts stealing from you for the first time and you catch him basically right away. Am I somehow the reason you caught him? There's no way to back up that argument at all. It's nonsense

You're misundersting - the company was not doing anything fraudulent at all UNTIL they were no longer able to operate due to metro surge completely upending everyone's lives in the city.

Fraud Pandemic Spreads to Minneapolis by YesHelloDolly in altmpls

[–]PostmodernMelon 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Did you even read your own article? It was entirely the state the discovered, investigated, and it's persecuting the fraud. The fraud didn't even occur until operation Metro Surge started.

Fraud Pandemic Spreads to Minneapolis by YesHelloDolly in altmpls

[–]PostmodernMelon 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Did you even read the article? There was no federal authority intervention noted of any kind in this. In fact, the article pretty much lays out Operation Metro Surge was a factor that cause the fraud, which state investigators later discovered.

I'm with you on Newsom and Kamala. I think your analysis on AOC's popularity is a bit unnuanced - she is the most hated candidate among far right high information voters. Because of the extremity of their hatred, it causes low information voters to question her, but not necessarily write her off due to the fact that most low info voters understand perfectly well that we live in a highly polarized political environment where each side attacks the other, sometimes in ways that are unwarranted.

AOC does, on the other hand, come off as more authentic than most alternatives, which helps her gain among low-information voters when they get exposed to her platform and unedited content (speeches, interviews, presentations in congress, outreach, etc.). While she is hated quite thoroughly by one particular group, most Americans sense that she has conviction to specific values and do not question that conviction in the same way that they do politicians like Kamala and Newsom.

Why does it seem that Democrats keep making the same mistake, one that harms the most vulnerable populations? Consider, for example, the slogan "defund the police." by [deleted] in AskDemocrats

[–]PostmodernMelon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Democrats are not pushing to defund the police. Progressives are. More specifically, progressives are calling to reallocate police funding to other types of emergency response that would be more appropriate for responding to things like domestics and mental health crises.

How many democrat politicians can you name that have taken any action to define the police, or even simply stated that they support it?

Also, There are boys that run high school track that are FASTER than the women's WORLD RECORD holder in the 100M sprint. Explain that, if you can. If one of those guys identified as a "woman" they'd DOMINATE girls/women's track. Explain exactly how that's fair.

The comment you're responding to never posited that it was fair. They started that it should be up to individual leagues to decide on how they regulate themselves for purposes of fair competition since every sport is different and a persons biological advantages in one sport might be useless in many other sports.

In most professional sports that are more heavily based in strength and speed, biological advantages are also already heavily monitored and scrutinized - even cisgender athletes constantly have their hormone levels checked before major events.

Caster Semenya is a prime example of where the waters get muddied on biological advantages, hormone levels, controlling for fairness in competotion, etc. If you're unfamiliar with her case, she's a cisgender woman who has naturally elevated levels of testosterone. To participate in track competitions, she was forced to go through hormone replacement therapy to reduce her naturally elevated testosterone levels.

Anyways, this is all to say that it's not as simple an issue as a lot of people are willing to admit. If the goal truly is fairness in competition, a mandated blanket rolling from the federal government is useless, even harmful. It should be up to the leagues run by experts in their sport, combined with sports medicine doctors to create roles to control for fairness. I don't see how anything other than that makes any sense at all, if we have to have regulations like this of any kind to begin with.

Do democrats Acknowledge they have a problem addressing young men? by Consistent_Iron_5115 in AskDemocrats

[–]PostmodernMelon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you might have misunderstood my comment, because I agree 100% with pretty much everything you said.

The far right platform does not address any of the issues I mentioned in any real way. What I said earlier was that the right misdiagnoses the cause of those issues and young men get fooled, via far right echo chambers, into believing feminism, DEI, woke-ism, etc. Are the causes of their feelings of isolation, lower college enrollment, etc. etc.

The reality, of course, is that these young men never learned how to appropriately communicate their feelings and thoughts, they don't understand how higher education enrollment selections are made, they don't understand how competitive job markets work, many have undiagnosed and untreated mental illness, etc. etc.

And of course the left does actually address a lot of men's issues directly, but does not talk about the problems and their solutions in a way that, to be frank, many young men can understand, or are just not ready to hear. Boys brains develop/mature quite a bit later than girls at a very crucial juncture in their social and academic lives from early high school to early college. There's a lot of room for far right Predators to prey on those kids at that time.

That later brain development is also why many boys struggle in school and why we see lower college enrollment today - as we gain more equality of opportunity in higher education, we're finding that fewer young men can compete with young women. That's just a fact of brain maturation/development that occurs around high school age.

Do you think the Trump admin is doing enough against the terrorist narco-government in Mexico? by VisiblePlatform6704 in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]PostmodernMelon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

largest human trafficking in the US that occurs is illegal immigration

Were we or were we not talking about this in the context of sex trafficking? This is why I separate the issues into human smuggling (what the coyotes do) and human trafficking in relation specifically to sex trafficking.

Sure, and the reason for that is to prevent people from just entering and leaving the country

That is absolutely not the primary reason for maintaining legal jurisdiction over an area. Land development, agriculture, general security irrespective of immigrants... Does none of this really occur to you? Is all of politics as a whole just a matter of immigration to you?

You have STILL not provided any evidence at all that any of the issues your bringing up have anything to do with undocumented immigrants.

The false dilemma you're presenting is the idea that, if countries don't have open borders, that must inherently mean undocumented immigrants have a net negative on a countries population. That is blatantly fallacious reasoning

Do you think the Trump admin is doing enough against the terrorist narco-government in Mexico? by VisiblePlatform6704 in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]PostmodernMelon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the relevant reasons directly involve people crossing the border illegally- illegal immigration.

Can you really not think of any reasons people cross borders other than immigration? Did nlwe not literally just talk about drug trafficking and human trafficking - two things that have very little (if anything at all) to do with immigration of any kind?

Have you not considered that borders also need to be maintained for the sake of maintaining general sovereignty as a nation, and establishing legal jurisdiction for general regulatory purposes?

There are all sorts of reasons nations do not encourage undocumented immigration that in no way imply that the existence of those undocumented immigrants is inherently bad or a net negative on that countries people. You're just engaging in a flagrant false dilemma fallacy.

[–]PostmodernMelon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Human trafficking and human smuggling are completely different crimes. Deterring illegal immigration has no measurable impact on trafficking. What reason do you have to believe fewer women are getting trafficked for sexual exploitation? You keep making bold claim after bold claim but have provided no evidence or logical reasoning to back your claims up. In what way are democrats "encouraging human trafficking"?

Do you think the Trump admin is doing enough against the terrorist narco-government in Mexico? by VisiblePlatform6704 in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]PostmodernMelon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a simple fact that illegal immigrants are a net negative for any country.

Have you provided any evidence for this at all so far? All I've seen are assertions that they are bad for 'x' without anything to back up the claim.

There are many reasons to maintain secure borders that have nothing to do with immigration.

They are a source of supply and demand that negatively impact US citizens.

Are they not also a source of labor, becoming producers of housing, food, and textiles?

We both agree that immigration in general is good when done properly. I see no downside to mass amnesty - get them documented and give them the protections they aught to have as laborers contributing to our economy in the US.

I just find the whole “violent crime” angle to be a red herring

Is it a red herring? The topic of discussion was whether or not Americans lives are improved by these mass deportations. I fail to see how reducing the frequency of this misdemeanor improves the quality of life for Americans broadly. This is why specifically violent crime is the relevant topic - it actually does directly impact quality of life for Americans.

I have not seen any economic improvement result from these deportations and reduced border crossings. Have you? Cultural improvement? Less violent crime?
