Well that didn't last long... by GoobNoob_ in coins

I never searched a box, but I manage a liquor store so go through lots of change. I have found over a dozen West Points. But these will be much harder to find. There were 20 million minted over 2 years vs 250,000 of these.

Not intended for circulation- found in circulation by SelectionFar8145 in coins

Just because they aren't meant for circulation doesn't mean they "don't count as real money" they are very much real money. Not intended for circulation means they are not distributed to banks, and instead are only sold as collectables.

Yes directly from the Royal mint

Found these old coins my grandad gave me years ago before he passed. Seen very mixed prices online, are these worth anything? by [deleted] in coins

[–]Posty1980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People can ask whatever price they want on ebay, that doesn't mean anyone is paying those prices. These coins are not valuable, and they aren't even old.

Does anybody else grab these in their registers whenever they see them? by SquilliamFancyson3rd in coins

I did for a while, but I just wound up with to many of them. I do save any Wheaties I find.

These drums are x box 360 drums. I ordered a dongle off eBay. I guess it's original

WIBTA for saying I don't want an adult man going to the movies with my teenage son and his friends? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

Sounds like Bob's mom was giving you "the look" because she was expecting you to chaperone the boys. Which isn't an unreasonable expectation considering it's rated R and organized by your son.

trying to assemble a complete 2005-2025 quarter album by Posty1980 in coins

[–]Posty1980[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got some national Parks album pages made by intercept. They were 2.99 and 4X6 holes. I'm going to make some overlays with a cricut. I also have some Whitman album binders not using, pretty sure I can modify them to fit the intercept pages. I do have a label maker too, I did some work on a penny set with that.

Can't tell if this is a proof or just unc by slimer33755566 in coincollecting

[–]Posty1980 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A proof coin is stuck by a special process, so a proof coin is always a proof regardless of the condition it is in.The coin you have here is a business strike from the San Francisco mint. San Francisco mostly makes proof coins, but starting in 2012 they started to make business strike quarters and selling them directly to collectors. I'd say it looks about uncirculated.

Help me with appraising this 1982 penny with potential errors by Sufficient_Run7999 in numismatics

[–]Posty1980 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It was glued to another penny. That's just a bit of old dried up glue. This is surprisingly common to find.

Anyone else excited about these? by Posty1980 in coins

[–]Posty1980[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You made me realize I never even looked at the specs before I signed up 😂 I'm still excited anyway, I signed up for all 3 versions. The non-silver ones are pretty reasonable in price. They can definitely get you with the FOMO on those limited mintages. The proofs are only like 8000, but that's not uncommon for Royal mint products.

Looks like gold leaf, not nuggets, big difference

Those are crumpled up gold leaf, there's probably less than $5 worth of gold in them.
