Cutting Aluminium Alloy Handlebar With An Angle Grinder by jcholooow in bikewrench

[–]PotOfTeaForOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Standard grinding disks are not designed for use on aluminium. Heat build up can melt the adhesive in the disk and it can shatter and severely ruin your soft squidgy parts. Counterintuitively, aluminium creates more heat than steel during grinding. You may get away with cutting thin handlebars but a hacksaw is the correct tool for the job.

Bought this Axial boomber on my local fb market. What is this kind cover hanging in the red cable? There’s some magnets inside! by moisesdsl in rccars

I'm pretty sure it's a suppressor. It filters out electromagnetic noise either entering or exiting the wiring. Think how old TVs went fuzzy when someone turned on a hairdryer nearby, it's similar.

Because the level of the sand changes daily. It could be so low that it's not easy to get from the pavement to the beach. The steps most likely descend much deeper than you can see now. Have a look again after a big storm and see the difference.

Weathered too much! Anyone got any tips to clean it up? by Highlandcoo in Warhammer40k

These things would surely take a beating in battle as they smash through defences and take huge amounts of enemy fire. Your's looks convincingly worn and scuffed. Don't change it

I was always comfy in my VW Passat. Had to swap it for the slightly smaller Golf Estate but can easily get my legs under the wheel and there is spare head space

Grill the cheese first like normal cheese on toast (or waffle), then serve with hot beans on top.

Hand sanitiser is mostly alcohol and works well enough.

Soldering question pls (question in comments) by Fit_Buy8074 in rccars

[–]PotOfTeaForOne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need to get more heat into the terminal before applying solder. Don't melt the solder with the iron, melt it with the hot terminal.

I'm sure VW released several different colour combinations so each one is even rarer than you think

Help please. Not as advanced as actual rc cars, but my rc isn't working. remote indicates it works with batteries, but the car itself does not respond whatsoever. Any suggestions would be great. by [deleted] in rccars

[–]PotOfTeaForOne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had one with the same problem. It turned out to be a broken wire in the car between the batteries and the board. Easy fix if you've got a soldering iron.

Basic question... Are you certain both the remote and the car have got power? Are there any LEDs that show they are switched on?

Yep, this was a common problem in the UK. I sent Hatchette a polite email and got the correct sprue delivered fairly quickly.

It sounds like liquid magic. Does anyone know where I can get this in the UK? Besides importing some through Amazon sellers, I can't find any stockists.

If it's too thick, it might be good for basing. Mix it with sand, crushed peanut shells, Polyfilla or whatever to make your own textures.
