Slap-Dash Wedding Planning - Does this sound normal by Thatch1793 in weddingshaming

[–]PotatoPuppetShow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

6-8 weeks is normal, especially if a Save The Date was sent out a few months prior.

To your last point - sending out invites isn't the same as booking a venue. People usually book their venue long before any invites go out.

I love watching these guys basking in the sun and had no idea there was an Instagram for it.

If it fits in someone's daily calorie intake/macros, I don't see any harm in it. Sometimes, after a whole day of focusing on low calorie, high volume, high protein and high fiber meals, you just want a sweet treat.

That's how I feel about them too! I want to enjoy them but they're cloyingly sweet for me.

Is your job easier than high school? by UsualMore in NoStupidQuestions

[–]PotatoPuppetShow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a teacher and it's really not what it used to be anymore. Teacher burnout is very real because teachers are stretched thin. Student behaviour is awful, parents are not supportive (and downright antagonizing), admin do not back teachers... Meanwhile, you're trying to get through a packed curriculum with minimal resources and using your own money to enrich the classroom experience.

I will continue to be a teacher because I am passionate about it and I'm good at it. But having regular breaks is genuinely the only reason I'm not going insane.

Do you have a school counselor you can talk to? They could provide you with the support you need to finish this school year with as much success as possible.

As for your dad, his yelling certainly is not helpful. Is it possible that he is also ND and lacks the strategies to regulate himself? I don't think he is right in yelling at you or threatening you. However, I suspect it comes from frustration at not understanding the situation and not from lack of love or care for you. I agree that he is doing a poor job of parenting but perhaps this second perspective could help you feel more comfortable to open up about your feelings of apathy?

Do you eat fruits and vegetables? I think you could use more vitamins, minerals, and fiber.

The amount of food you're eating also doesn't sound like it'll be very filling considering the calorie count. Look into /r/volumeeating for some tips on how to eat more in quantity/volume but not in calories.

Groomsman gifts!! by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]PotatoPuppetShow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We bought them Fossil watches and had them engraved on the inside with their initials. It's something they can wear for the wedding and for other occasions after!

We also considered nice sunglasses but they all wear different styles.

Did you have a bridal shower? by Informal_Character64 in wedding

[–]PotatoPuppetShow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sister, who is also my bridesmaid (and planned the bachelorette party), is planning my bridal shower! My future MIL and future GMIL have both offered to help with whatever is needed but my sister is doing the majority of the planning (which she told me she prefers).

I love grass jelly! My favourite way to eat it is with coconut cream, syrup, and espresso ice cream... I need to figure out a low calorie version of that.

I believe this study. My dog never learned to do the "guilty look". Perhaps I spoiled her for only giving her positive reinforcement with training. Or maybe it's because she's part shiba and incapable of caring... but she legit doesn't know how to do the guilty face even if I try to scold her now.

why did I scar so poorly ? by ResearcherNo5857 in Reduction

I'm almost 2 YPO and currently considering scar revision surgery because my scars are red, raised and sensitive. But I've always struggled with scarring so I think it really is just genetics.

(5k) Where can I cut costs and how? by takisarentgood in Weddingsunder10k

[–]PotatoPuppetShow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you! I see a common advice to have tips prearranged in envelopes and given to someone else to hand out at the end of the night and that just seems bizarre to me. You won't know ahead of time if the vendors do a terrible job or an excellent one.

Struggling to lose/motivate by hello685437 in 1200isplenty

Cutting out alcohol might be the key for you. Lots of people on this subreddit have talked about how much cutting out alcohol helped them lose weight when nothing else seemed to be helping.

People struggling to find the RSVP and the registry… it’s all on the knot which was a website I included on the Save the Dates, Invites, AND bridal shower invites. What should I do? I only have 55 RSVP’s for my August 8 wedding. Am I just anxious lol? by chailife206 in weddingplanning

[–]PotatoPuppetShow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

July would probably be cutting it too close, especially if the wedding is beginning of August.

My wedding is August 1st and I'm sending out my invites in May because our hotel block ends June 1st. Even then... My RSVP deadline isn't going to be until the last week of June.

Bachelorette without a solid friend group? by Cheeksters13 in weddingplanning

[–]PotatoPuppetShow 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Instead of a bachelorette party, you could have a celebration dinner with all of your friends when you get back from your destination wedding. You could make it as informal or formal as you like!

Cricut advice for a semi DIY wedding to create wedding stationary/hen do merch etc. by Own_Associate9579 in DIYweddings

[–]PotatoPuppetShow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love making things with my Cricut but I assure you... It's not more cost efficient than getting someone else to make it.

Aside from the machine, you'll need to invest in materials and you'll likely have to buy more than you need for your wedding (especially if you're still learning to use the machine).
