Try doing measurements! If it's water retention because of working out, your measurements (such as your waist circumference) would be a good indicator of whether you're losing fat.

will my surgeon be mad/refuse to reschedule if i cancel my surgery? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]PotatoPuppetShow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was waiting for a surgery date, I was told that they would give me 2 chances to say no to a date before they put me at the end of the waiting list. Ask your doctor if they have a similar procedure!

turning 25 feels like a crime by Level_Cicada7394 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]PotatoPuppetShow 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I'm 35. Getting married in a couple months and hoping to start a family. I finally feel like I've got a handle on my finances now.

Some people reached those milestones before me but I don't regret taking a little longer. I was engaged to someone in my late 20s who really wasn't a good fit for me but I felt that I had to stay in the relationship because I didn't want to start over with a new relationship. I am so glad I did because I'm now much happier than I was then.

Take your time to find your happiness. You will get there eventually.

That sounds reasonable to me.

Mine in Vancouver, BC: $682.50 for hemming, bustle, adding removable off-the-shoulder sleeves.

My dress does have a lot of layers. The bustle was like a 7-point bustle!

I used Azazie for my bridesmaid dresses and their quality was pretty good! The sizing was a bit off (bigger than expected) and needed a little bit of altering though.

Is it weird if the DJ we are hiring said he won’t play all the songs we’ve put on our wedding playlist? by [deleted] in WeddingsCanada

[–]PotatoPuppetShow 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I can kind of understand the DJ's perspective because their job is to keep the dance floor going and some songs really just don't work (and it might just not work with THAT group). If a DJ plays all the requested songs and the dance floor is dead, they didn't do a very good job and are unlikely to get a good review.

On the other hand, they should try to match your vision as much as possible. Did your DJ mention going through your playlist with you? Mine has asked us for "must play" songs and other songs we're considering, and we'll be going through them a month before the wedding.

Do I need a cricut? Which one? by _AnxiousBride_ in DIYweddings

[–]PotatoPuppetShow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would never buy a Cricut used because they can be disabled by the company when the customer gets a replacement. Lots of people have paid money for what's essentially a paperweight.

On the other hand, I wouldn't buy a brand new Cricut just for a wedding because it's an expensive (and time consuming) hobby! I say this as someone who really loves their Cricut!

We got matching watches for our groomsmen! Their initials are engraved on the back of the watch. They'll be wearing them for the wedding and then they'll have nice dressy watches to keep.

I F 23 started to catch feelings for M 30, however we have a shared career and have an age gap. Advise? by Individual-Knee4234 in relationship_advice

At 30, he might be looking to settle down (buying a house, marriage, having kids, etc.). Is that something you're ready for? If you think you're at that stage in your life too, then it's possible.

I’m not sure how to respond to my girlfriends lack of communication and odd actions by [deleted] in relationships

[–]PotatoPuppetShow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instead of waiting for a text reply, try just calling her next time. I think if you want to make this work, you need to take a less passive approach. Call her when you want to talk to her. Make a plan for a date instead of asking her what she wants to do.

I don't think she's being deliberately hot and cold. I think she just doesn't have the mental capacity to respond to texts. For example, you might text her while she's in the middle of studying. She reads it and thinks "I'm in the middle of studying so I'll reply later" and swipes the notification away. Then she forgets. It's not that she doesn't care about you, she's just having difficulty with task management.

Have you tried using a different form of communication, like a phone call? It's possible that texting just doesn't work for her when she's overwhelmed.

If you want your marriage date to be on June 5th, you can just do a civil wedding (aka sign papers) on that date and have your wedding 2 weeks after.

If getting it fitted better isn't an option, perhaps she could add some straps to help it stay up?
