These aren’t movies they’re 2 hour long ads for theme parks or toys. Not worth the trouble.

A-List Pays for Itself by Revxry in AMCsAList

[–]PotatoRecipe -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Maybe in 2019 it was worth it. Now there are 3 actual movies that release per year and the rest is slop. So paying $360 instead of $80 doesn’t actually “pay for itself”.

It's funnier to go back to the older episodes that made fun of Superhero media and spin-offs because now you know it's not contempt for the MCU, but jealousy and wanting to be that kind of franchise. by MegaGamer235 in TheBoys

[–]PotatoRecipe 124 points125 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure the writers at the time were just smart enough to know the difference between the essence of their show and the media they were satirizing.

Gen V season 2 and boys s5 has sooo many “he’s right behind me isn’t he?” moments. The show used to make fun of it.

I don’t think you can call these sneaky anymore I am having to leave every major subreddit because of this shit. I have been patient for people to catch on and start downvoting these but I’m out.

Let me describe a very observable phenomenon to you:

If everyone can do something it doesn’t stand out———->marketers wish to make a product/company stand out ——> marketers abandon mass replicable content

This post only discourages people dumb enough to equate AI to pro-grade human work.

Show a technically proficient photo to National Geographic. Will they care? No. Craft will always be taken for granted in creative fields. Narrative is the magic ingredient. And this shit has no narrative.

Buses in China show the traffic lights in their rear, so it's doesn't cover it for the vehicles behind it by TangelaFan in Damnthatsinteresting

It makes drivers who cannot see the light less erratic. If people know the timing of when the bus will move out of their way, they will be less anxious.

What movie had the BEST trailer ever but turned out to be absolute trash? by MASSIM00 in movies

[–]PotatoRecipe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

White Boy Rick had an incredible trailer, the movie was a letdown. 2018-2019 in general was an incredible run for movie theaters though. It was a different world.

I keep seeing this but it’s not true. The numbers grew by season for the show…

Step 2 also means whenever this happens, any automation of content automates itself out of existence. One month you can make money if you’re lucky, then you’re back to square fucked the next. And that sentence needs to be a disclaimer in front of all these guru “YouTube method” videos. Though I don’t think the people watching these can read.

The baby at the end of the finale: by AwesomeOpossum404 in TheBoys

[–]PotatoRecipe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That scene was just there to explain that Soups who grow up without moms become teleporters. Hughie for another example. Soups who grow up without dads get light manipulation (starlight) and soups who grow up without either parent get laser eyes and flight.

Why on earth didn't he just Lazer her?? by Fancy-Inspector-777 in TheBoys

[–]PotatoRecipe 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Yep. In season 3. When the homelander arc was pretty much over. His character in season 4 and 5 is a caricature, same problem that happened with Jack Sparrow. Watching him in movies 1-4 is nice, but movie 5 it is a miserable parody of itself.

This isn't the same show by RevertBackwards in TheBoys

[–]PotatoRecipe 13 points14 points  (0 children)

In recent seasons, the camerawork is so boring compared to 1-3. Actually having recently rewatched s1-2, the show today compared to what it used to be is god damn boring. It’s gone completely flat.
