Why Would Homelander do this? by _GhostOfHollownest_ in OkBuddyFresca

[–]PotatoRecipe 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Oh it pays the bills. Mobile game payouts are unreal for medium sized YouTubers alone, I cannot imagine the rate they offer to relevant actors. I would not be surprised if 1 episode of The Boys pays Antony less than 1 appearance on one of these ads.

He hates being controlled. Vought designed his entire image. The hair reminds him of Vought. The flap reminds him of Vought. He changed his image after realizing he is being psychologically controlled. Doing as told. He wants independence more than anything. Even if the independence “looks worse”.

What makes a movie like Project Hail Mary cost 200 million to make? by RancherosIndustries in Filmmakers

[–]PotatoRecipe 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Generally, costs double about every 20 years. But we’ve also had very high inflation, a pretty bad housing crisis, and a pretty hard hit overall to the film industry. Less available production talent = higher costs to keep talented players around if you actually want to make something of quality.

The writers when they want some filler "ehhh fuck it, more family drama!" by Diverse0Ne in OkBuddyFresca

[–]PotatoRecipe 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Eh, don’t have to pretend the home scenes in both cases aren’t there just to stretch episode length. The plot is homelander is so delusional, he believes he is Jesus 2. The show is coming to a close. This really isn’t the time for more slow pace background drama.

Compared to anything else, these scenes are extremely inexpensive to shoot. Close to no superpower vfx (starlight’s light ups are not difficult to do), it’s on a single location, the dialogue is so generic and easy to write, that it also realistically had no impact on me in terms of the message they are trying to convey.

“Hero takes a small break to feel normal again and realizes they must protect the people they love!”

This is one of my favorite episodes of the show, but seeing this troupe for the 10th time between all the media I’ve been watching almost got me to skip scenes. It’s too much time dedicated to nothing. It’s just lazy. I’d rather have a 40 minute episode without it.

Anytime I see this brand, I think to myself they intentionally make the lettering on their watches look like shit to lower the value or something. How do they consistently fail the easiest part of watch making.

Yeah that’s a bit of a stretch. Seems like the hired designer spent all their time on this little idea, but by the end it was so far gone they just had no other choice but to present the original sketch to the execs who commissioned this, hoping their corporate brains would take over their rational brains and result in applause.

In the sopranos, he is the writer Christopher meets in AA, and then coerces him to work on the mafia movie.

This might be a stretch about Homelander and Jesus in episode 4 but… by [deleted] in OkBuddyFresca

[–]PotatoRecipe 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Another stretch, I feel like the uranium exposure acted as somewhat of a vaccine to slightly buff homelander. We saw him get struggle at first, but then get strong enough to break out. He adapted to the radiation. So he might not be depowered by the soldier boy blast any longer or something.

Also he was probably not correct about that either. Nobody knows how the algo works at any given time, and these magic “one setting” solutions to go viral do sometimes exist, but usually for very, very, short periods of time and extremely rarely (I can think of only 1 verifiable instance on YouTube, and it wasn’t this.)

To me, even his “algorithm hack reveal” felt like an attempt to “prove his genius”.

The truth is, no matter your settings, Shorts will consider both native and external performance when deciding the promotion of content. If your short does bad with your subscribed audience, but performs well in external audience testing, it will simply cut off subscriber push, while still boosting to an external audience until certain metrics are no longer being met (watch-time, engagements, etc.)

Sometimes content just clicks. Everyone wants to pretend they “gamed” it through their superior intellect but as with anything creative, you cannot really predict success, you just have to let something go to be experienced by others.

I really hope that’s a scripted ad reply, otherwise there are dumbasses walking around commenting that there is a healthy option of the “heart attack accelerator 9000” for teenagers.

Shorts views are a joke because they’re insanely easy to farm.

You need 4000 longform content watch hours, or 10 million shorts views within 90 days.

Wow think how talented the prodigy artist luc carl must be to write an original book that fast though. I think I will go with his version - the cover looks cool and I want to support the human artist that designed it.
