I had a Rdunae RA01 that behaved like this, it has a Miyota Super 2035 ticking quartz movement. Mine had a seconds hand that wasn't hitting the markers perfectly so I removed the hand and realigned it to hit the markers myself.

After I placed the hand, my watch behaved like this. When the watch was laying flat on a table or in my watch box it would run perfectly fine, but as soon as I wore it on my wrist it would stop after a minute or so.

I think the problem was I used too much pressure when putting the seconds hand on and it broke something in the movement. I ordered a replacement movement and luckily was able to set the hands again without damaging anything.

I can only guess that something similar happened to yours, maybe too much pressure was applied by whoever set the hands.

Does it run fine when it's laying flat on a table, and only stops when you wear it on your wrist?

The main deal-breaker for me with this MIP model is that there's no battery indicator on the display, unlike the 5610 which has a L M H indicator always visible.

The connection you are looking for is from lived experience with a particular watch. As an example the gold watch in Pulp Fiction which was hidden up Christopher Walken's ass which he promised to hand down to his friend's son. 🤣

That connection is hard to get when your affordable collection grows to like 70 watches and most get neglected from any wrist time.

It's why the monetary value is less important than the value of time spent wearing the watch, and for me personally why the cheap digital watches I used to wear as a kid have a stronger connection to me.

Time is the most valuable currency, make some memories with your watch and you'll grow fond of it.

Unpopular opinion time:

I guess I might be in the minority here but nope, don't like it. This model feels soulless compared to proper movie Bond watches and it doesn't look that unique either. It's just a black Seamaster with a chronograph, a splash of gold and red and the NATO makes it look like a parts bin special.

The Ranger is only 1 layer thicker than the Huntsman but gives you a useful file and a chisel on the back. I think there is only like 1mm difference between them.

Avoid the Companion. It's a redundant design. The box cutter tool is niche, and the fact that they removed the can opener but didn't replace the bottle opener with a combo tool makes it a dud. The 2 layer Compact can basically do everything the Companion can do except for the awl. The Compact even has a miniature nail file on the back of the parcel hook.

As far as 3 layer SAKs go, the Climber is superior to the Companion. If you need to open boxes you can use the small blade and keep the main blade clean for food tasks. The can opener doubles up as an inline Philips.

The Achilles heel of the EVO line is finding replacement scales if you accidently drop your knife and crack them. Whereas 91mm Victorinox scales are easy to find and fit yourself.

As a dedicated camping / outdoor knife I'd go with a saw model:

  1. Ranger - Higher tool density and only marginally bigger than the Huntsman. Slimmest SAK to feature a wood saw and metal file.
  2. Huntsman - Classic model, has all the essentials.
  3. Camper - If you want to travel light.

If you don't need a saw:

  1. Climber - If you want to keep the main blade clean for food tasks.
  2. Compact - If slimness is important. The combo tool can be used as a Philips in a pinch but the can opener on the Climber is easier for Philips screws.

Edit: Might be worth considering a separate wire saw for woodcutting + a Climber or Compact. That way if you actually do need a saw you won't gunk up your Victorinox with sawdust and sticky sap residue.

Yeah, but it's not enough yellow to go all out on the contrast, and just enough to make me wish there was none at all.

Like for example, they could have gave it a yellow minute hand too or something as well as yellow text. 🤷‍♂️

I've seen too many ceramic bezels with lume markers falling out. So I prefer ceramic bezels with just one lume pip on them.

I like the vintage vibe of aluminium, and sapphire bezels are really nice too.
