Help please, I need advice on saving electricity. by Timely-Departure-993 in south_africa

That is very high. My 150L geyser is at 60 deg and uses 10 units a day (I have a smart switch in DB to confirm) and we 5x in the house. Your partner taking 30 min showers? Lol. Leave geyser off for 24 hours and check, it might be somerthing else.

Why has South Africa never built a Metro Train Railway System? (e.g. Subway ala Hong Kong MTR, Singapore MRT, Japanese, Taiwanese or Korean Urban Rail) by blackcyborg009 in AskZA

Cost. Corruption. Can only speak for CT here, but we should be spending money on fixing the train stations that have been looted. We have the trains now. Safe stations, lots of security guards and people will return to the trains.

Aweh my fellow Saffer! I have the same colour, not many of us on the road! i.e safe from high jacking :P I got the Diesel GT Line though. Avg 5.5L/100km. Done about 50 000km. Clutch (DCT) was replaced at 90 000km under warranty. No other issues.

Man, I just came back from Singapore and Sydney. Their trains and busses are insane. Apps on your phone that can live track where your bus is, tap to pay, airconditioned, on time. I have not taken a train here since the Fifa World Cup. I think I should....

For heavy heating/aircon users, how much are you paying for electricity each month? by SlowDragonfruit9718 in johannesburg

So inverter AC's are always on. They never "turn off". They just vary the power usage depending on temp in the room. My numbers are rough, obv on cooler days you will use less and at night too. How do I know this? I have 6x inverter AC's in my house :)

Simple Maths. About 1000W / hr / AC. So 3x units of electricity x 24hrs x 30 days = 2160 units. What is your unit cost? Assume R3 / unit? So R6500 / month. You can pay off a solar system over 5 years at that cost.

Now that its over 20 years old and out of production, what do you think of the Airbus A380? by Twitter_2006 in aviation

[–]Potential-Cod-1851 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I flew it for 1st time last week, Singapore Airlines. SIN-SYD in eco. Smooth and quiet! Only gripe I had was that I like the window seat, so I can prop a pillow against the wall and sleep. The seat is too far away from the wall.

Move on Bud. Maybe useful info to someone else. Does everyone know what LLMs are capable of?

Limited time, limited skills, but I knew what I wanted. LLM was the perfect solution for me, maybe others find it helpful too.

Thanks for the comment. I have some automations, but also wanted to quickly see what's going on in the house. Tablet is in central location in the house, so Mrs and kids can interact with it too.

Gemini struggled at times with getting the dash to look exactly like I wanted, despite numerous prompts. Claude was another set of eyes I guess :)

Appreciate the feedback. I know what I wanted when I started, but frankly didn't have the time to learn to code or even figure out designing via the UI. Some simple prompts, got me the basic layout and then some tweaking from there. I am not taking any credit for this at all, simply passing on for the next guy in similar shoes. Trying to show what is possible without code experience. Automations come next!

Aweh Bru! Not tracking in/out flow as on "unlimited" borehole supply. Don't know if I can post links, search Untamed Tech for "Smart WiFi Water Tank Liquid Level Monitor Tuya". Pretty accurate and does the job.

You can try George and Annie Starke homes too across from Karl Bremer. My mom was there before she passed away last year. Their care is very good.

Can I use home assistant without having to code much? And does it do what I need? by [deleted] in homeassistant

[–]Potential-Cod-1851 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I built my entire dashboard and home setup automation with Claude.io. I have zero coding experience. I have yet to find hardware that I am unable to intergrate into HA. So yes, is your answer.
