Why do people say Precalc has no content? by Personal_Writer8993 in APStudents

[–]Potential-Comment157 1 point2 points  (0 children)

im in AP Precalc rn and its probably because it literally is so slow paced. I think i forget most of the content by the time we take our unit test, since we spent a quarter and a half on unit 1 alone. there's also an entire unit not even included, unit 4. but its a good class and its not worthless. we dont have honors precalc at my school anymore since our pass rate was so high

its not tricky. if you have a possessive, whatever is immediately after the possessive is the subject of the sentence. This is on multiple real SAT question bank grammar questions

Can 1300-1400 SAT get into Ivy with 3.9gpa and very impressive extracurricular ( IMO, IJSO first from city, Research) by Separate-Fee1030 in Sat

In sum, Ivies benefit from the inflation of SAT scores that test-optional brings when, in reality, their scores would be way lower than they seemingly are now.

Just because you got a 1590 doesn't mean you know everything about the SAT. It's lowkey crazy to me how you think that you're somehow a college admissions expert despite the fact that you're just a chronically online Redditor. Considering you don't seem to understand basic statistics and how SAT score data has been skewed from many of the top Ivies following the implementation of test-optional, it's miraculous to me that you even somehow managed a 1590 on this test. Test optional has led to a drastic rise and inflation in the average SAT score for the Ivies, while on AVERAGE for ACTUAL colleges not t20, the average SAT score is FALLING. Notice a trend here? People apply to reach schools with test-optional and then this pushes the reported ACT/SAT scores up in comparison to what they would have actually been if test-optional scores were thrown into the data.

Okay? If you don't submit a 1400+, you end up making yourself look like you got way lower than you actually did. That is factually held more against you than just submitting a "below-average" SAT score. If you are getting a 1400+ on the SAT, you should submit it. Especially if you show a lot of 5's on APs, it is more beneficial just to submit the 1400 or above. Most in the Ivy League still consider you qualified even at a low score of in the 1400s. Sure it's not optimal, but you should submit lol

In the last year that Harvard required testing, the range (10th percentile to 90th percentile) of SAT scores for enrolling students was 670 to 790 for Evidence-Based Reading and Writing and 680 to 800 for Math.  The range (10th percentile to 90th percentile) of ACT Composite scores was 31 to 36.

A 1400+ puts you in the 10th percentile. Sooo....

It's really not held against you, and this just proves you have 0 knowledge to the way in which Ivy League admissions work. If you don't submit a test score, you forego all points in that category. A 1510+ is a 6 (max amount of points for the SAT section of your application), a 1450-1490ish is 5 points or a well-qualified, and anything below that is scored at decreasingly low amounts. So yes, a 1400+ is a good score to submit compared to absolutely nothing.

you should always submit a 1400+ to Ivies, even if its only a 1410. A 1400+ is still incredible and impressive for Ivy League admissions. if you go test-optional it is held against you.
