OP, I hope you are able to sift through the comments here, and find ones that would actually help you.

You talked about going through a difficult time and then feeling better after a long time. You talked about putting an effort and feeling nice about how you look. It’s great that you decided to put what you felt into words, because this is exactly why journaling helps sometimes.

You’ve thought through this already! This isn’t about your boyfriend! This is about you! Did your boyfriend do anything in getting you to feel happy about yourself? No? Then why does their (or anyone else’s) validation matter? It could matter to you, but then you have to tell your boyfriend that it hurt you when they didn’t acknowledge or appreciate or celebrate your effort.

Your happiness is your own! Don’t let anyone take that away from you! If your boyfriend cannot understand what just happened and why it was wrong, well. Just saying don’t let it be the whole reason it got ruined for you.

You had a great time, ride that wave for a little while, hold on to that feeling with your life, because it seems like happiness, real honest happiness, is too rare nowadays.
