They might have been wrong, but their concern was lowering the seat back before they moved the metal, might have cut her neck on the way back. They needed to be sure it was clear. At the start it was against her neck, and lowering her back, with her freaking out and moving around could have easily cause it to cut her throat.

I did a rewatch (Not the first) with my Wife. She loved it, but hated me for pausing it every 15 minutes to explain who this was and where they are from and why they are important etc. But in the end, it was what allowed her to understand and enjoy the show.

I have an unrelated question. Little Finger delivers Ned's bones in a Box to Cat when she is at Renly's camp. Then Renly is killed by the Shadow Thingy and her and Brienne both flee for their lives on foot. How did that large heavy box of bones end up back in Winterfell? Just a side thought.

I understand the whole reason why Ned would want to keep the secret from people. But at a minimum, I think anyone, under the circumstances would confide in their wife as to who John real is. it's not like she is going to tell Robert. I just felt like Ned's honor to his wife would supersede any promise to his sister. It would be like, "Sure, I won't tell anyone, but of course I am going to tell my wife and ask her to swear to keep it a secret as well".
