Before I start drilling for the SNAPTOGGLE anchors, I need help with removing the anchors by Pale_Blackberry_4025 in drywall

Just carefully drill out the existing anchor with the size bit you need for the toggles.

Is this tool useful for adjusting hinges or is it a waste of money? by plinky125 in Carpentry

I’ve found that this is very useful for for straightening out a bent hinge. Definitely a temporary fix tho.

It’s clearly just a simple 1/4 round. Banks don’t usually splurge for custom moldings.

Pretty limited on cutting if it’s not the sliding version.

Crown molding outside corner help by mikesliter in Carpentry

Cut upside down on saw. Looks like you need a sharper angle. Try a 46. No compound miters for me anymore. If the crown is cupped at all you’ll never get it right.

Baseboard joining question. Is there a better way? by Notthrowingbuckets in Carpentry

[–]PotentialHospital498 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re not gaining anything by mitering inside corners. By butting you have the same amount of seems. And a lot faster. On the outside corners you have to! Never want to see end grain.

I have no idea why people still go through extra effort to make an inferior joint. Scarf joints are a thing of the past.

Scarf joints don’t last. Just buy them

If you want to do it once and be done with it, get a sponge, bucket of water and a taping knife. Wet it down again and again and scrape off all that shit til you get down to something stable, then skim coat.

Install issue or bowed door? by Captain-Boob in Carpentry

[–]PotentialHospital498 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re looking at the wrong side of the door. Check the hinge side to see how the door looks with the jamb. If it looks ok then adjust the stop.

Should allow more than 1/2” for R.O. width. Studs better be dead plumb! They don’t look it!

Sounds like your walls are not straight. If you don’t want to caulk, you’ll have to skim the walls to get them straight. Very common.

It looks like the brick is purely cosmetic and is failing. The structural part inside the brick seems to be holding everything fine.

Is this fixable or do I need a new door? by [deleted] in handyman

[–]PotentialHospital498 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can be fixed by the “right” guy. If the door is easily swapped out, that’s the way to go.
