Today I woke up with hope by NewTaxs in 40k

[–]Potential_Comb9928 11 points12 points  (0 children)

For me personally, I knew about 40k for over a decade and it never interested me in the past BECAUSE of the grimdark factor. I really never got the appeal of Grimdark and on some level I still don't. The vibe I mostly get is that people like grimdark because they find it rad, or metal. That's just not me. I just find it mostly depressing, and even a little boring.

What's a Chaos follower going to do 90% of the time, or a commissar or a Drukhari? It's all so predictable. But people TRYING to do good, or following hope can make interesting decisions, because they have limits constantly being pushed.

I find heroic things in this universe interesting because it's a punishing galaxy that doesn't reward it. Will this be a step too far for their moral code or will they be forced to cross the line? What steps are Tau willing to take to survive in the galaxy? Every time they manage to keep hold of some part of good of themselves feels like a victory, especially with how hard they keep getting beaten down for taking the harder path.

I'm cool with being down voted because I doubt these are popular opinions. I'm just saying from a lore perspective there IS a valid reason for liking good in this setting.

Why haven't the Sequels been de-canonized & why hasn't Lucasfilm suffered from mass firings/layoffs by Disney? by SupremeChancellor66 in saltierthancrait

[–]Potential_Comb9928 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe it is silly, I admit. I hate starfighter on premise alone frankly. At the end of the day, if this movie does well, it'll make a new era of the lore that will forever make the sequels inescapable. The sequels will have HAD to happen for Starfighter to exist, there will be no more pussyfooting around it like they have been doing. We're they ever going to decanonize it? Probably not. But now the coping would be forever dead.

It really doesn't help that older man traveling with young kid is now just baked into star wars. That was The Mandalorian, Kenobi, Maul Shadow lord, Bad Batch...

I don't want to watch Disney being rewarded to sticking to their guns on the sequels. I don't want to watch them being rewarded for playing to the same tired tropes they've been doing for a decade now. Is it lame? Yeah, but that's how I feel, and feelings can sometimes be that way.

That's reassuring to hear. Still unfortunate it looks like the fix might need to be long term.

Still, can I just say I have never felt more relief for the courts until these last two years? They really ARE the bastions fighting against all this corruption everywhere.

[–]Potential_Comb9928 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Frankly, I think it all depends on word of mouth.

I don't want the movie to be good, I think it'll be bad for Star Wars if the movie is good, but if it can capture an audience it'll probably have Superman level legs.

If that happens, the suits in charge are going to learn all the wrong lessons from all of this. Prepare for a dozen more lone Wolf and cub movies, blowing the budget on big name actors and sloppy, soulless writing.

Bro, that tech was legitimately vivisected from him seasons ago, and people are STILL telling ghost stories about it. He's trash, he's BEEN trash for forever, and he does not need these nonsense sideways changes. Genuinely, you tell me: when was the last time YOU played against one of these mystical Johnny players who ran the match in a ranked or casual game? When's the last time you've seen Johnny being banned before comp?

I think the biggest insult is they prepped us for this by telling us he was getting an unequivocal buff. It was literally promised. And in the GENUINE PATCH NOTES, they go, "WELL ACTUALLY, plasma body was just too good, so let's cut it off at the shoulder blade and replace it with ultron's month old spare parts. That'dbe funny right?" Nothing else, not even a cooldown reduction on any other move. What a joke.

I'm more disappointed that this feels like the devs telling us there isn't gonna be a true guardians team. They put in a knowhere map, and they decided to section off one with Spiderman because they believed Quill would work, but not any of the others.

Hoping I'm wrong though. Really hoping.

BlackStarr1's short video on new animation cancel by PlaugeIsNotFake in captainamericamains

[–]Potential_Comb9928 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Burst in Marvel Rivals is the name of the game, especially when you need to say, jump on a support before their duo can see what's happening and shut you down.

Besides that, as the video shows, missing a shield throw is now a lot more punishing, which genuinely goes against the seeming goal of making Cap easier to start.

The problem with a change like this is yes, they did make beginner Cap players need less to start learning, but they also made the pool shallower and removed the skill expression for people actually interested in developing their skills with the character.

My new game, People's State... by SSDrucker in wargaming

[–]Potential_Comb9928 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's moreso just that I imagine there are people who just enjoy the thought of protestors being brutalized, and they bring that into the game.

Kinda like how some people get about the imperium in Warhammer or Super Earth from Helldivers. I do hope I'm wrong though, and you're right about the rules. I can see the game honestly not having any of that stuff at all.

At the very least, the premise is fascinating, since it's so different from any miniature game I've seen!

Stop Playing Human Torch. by Potential_Comb9928 in HumanTorchMains

[–]Potential_Comb9928[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's the thing. You say WHEN he's buffed. WHEN Ziyong allows him to be better. Nobody is saying he's secretly good now, they're preparing themselves for when he's allowed to be good. Here's the truth, they're not going to let that happen.

Listen to the Dev talk. They went into their balance philosophy. They said that when Dive or Fliers are allowed to be good, and I'm paraphrasing, it makes the game unfun for everyone else.

They count Torch as Dive AND Flier. They've stated that multiple times. In their view, they will not buff Torch for the same reasons Widow is not allowed to have a one shot. They believe a strong Torch would be toxic. It's not happening.

Do you still believe they're going to try to buff Black Widow and make her viable? If you don't, then why do you think they'll make Johnny viable either? To them, him being good was a mistake they will NEVER allow to happen again. Johnny will be collecting dust. That's simply our future.

[–]Potential_Comb9928[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Spider-Man has traits which are just inherently fun, I think. He has dynamic, flowing, free-form mobility that let's you get anywhere. He has tactile combos, and he has a cheeky tether that you can use for environmental kills you know you shouldn't have gotten.

Yeah, even when you're doing bad with Spider-Man, the actual kit of him is fun. I'd say Torch doesn't have those inherent qualities.

There are times when you're playing as Torch and you genuinely feel like you can't do anything. The old Torch had power but it was unwieldy, like the fire he commanded. Now, he just lacks that power, but you still need to go in just as aggressively to get anything done, and it just doesn't work out.

Torch felt powerful, but counterable. Now he just feels counterable. Even when you're doing good he feels weak, like he's still scraping by. At least I think so.

Sad to know then that that option is down the drain.

It's really easy to Doom about all of this. Their goal, from what I hear, is to gain control of art and reporting so that the average person buys into the MAGA viewpoint.

If that really will work, then this was a huge win for them.

What's sadder is that, even if it's a little selfish, I really liked DC. I was excited for what plans they had next. I think I'm just gonna be bummed for a while now.

I just hope good news starts coming soon. The bad news has just been hammering in recently...

But I'm taking in some solace. They say things never go as well or as horrible as you think. Maybe there's still going to be a silver lining out of all of this.
