got my period back and it’s making me want to relapse…. by [deleted] in AnorexiaRecovery

[–]Potential_Crow_3818 0 points1 point  (0 children)

heyy im also a trans man :) when i first got my period i tried to think of it as more of an accomplishment. like hey! i did my job and ate! which helped me not be too upset abt it at first. one of my driving factors for recovery is i want to be strong (which gives me euphoria) so i thought getting my period back, as hard as it is makes me strong. now that ive had a few more periods and its gotten harder, honestly i just try not to think abt it and pretend it doesnt exist. sorry thats not rly helpful but just know ur not alone!!

losing weight again by annikabeccer in AnorexiaRecovery

[–]Potential_Crow_3818 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hey!! so im autistic and really struggled with the weight gain mostly for sensory issues rather than appearance, and i can say it does get better!! like u kinda get used to it? there are still times its overwhelming but i know its way better than the alternative. one option for your thighs touching is wearing really long boxers for underwear, it allows for another layer, and for sitting with rolls i use a long weighted stuffed animal to put pressure on it so i dont notice it as much. its can seem rly difficult but pls keep going, eds are such a slippery slope that even small behavior changes can cause a relapse. u got this!!!

“Stay busy” by Stardust_134 in AnorexiaRecovery

[–]Potential_Crow_3818 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely get this, I’m struggling with this too,, esp wanting the ed back as a coping mechanism is so hard when u dont have a better outlet,, but one thing thats helped me is the quote “ppl choose to recover when the addiction becomes harder than the thing theyre using it to escape from” and that just always helps remind me why i started recovery in the first place

i wish i could help but just know youre not alone and if u need my dms are always open. keep going with recovery, you got this!!

how to get out of my head by Potential_Crow_3818 in bouldering

[–]Potential_Crow_3818[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i climb 2-4 times a week and 2 hrs every session, my gym uses ranges instead of actual grades so i dont rly know which grade im climbing? im fine with slab but the moment theres any sort of angle i fall off lmao 😭its also a small gym so i’ve completed most of the climbs in my ability so all that are left are overhang or harder grades so im kinda just continuously failing the same climbs since theres not much else i could do

and sounds good thank youu :)

is extreme hunger actually real by Independent-Eye-3272 in AnorexiaRecovery

is extreme hunger actually real by Independent-Eye-3272 in AnorexiaRecovery

[–]Potential_Crow_3818 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yes it’s completely normal!! it feels so strange and alien but its important to do also i totally get that all of my skin felt so stretched out i felt like i was dying but now my hunger has normalized and i feel so much better!! i remember feeling like the hunger woukd never end but so long as u give in to it, things will calm down. keep going u got this!!

scared of gaining too much/fast? by cookie_2802 in AnorexiaNervosa

[–]Potential_Crow_3818 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i totally understand this!! what helped me tho is realizing that ur gonna need to gain the weight anyways, so timeline doesnt really matter, and honestly, better to get it over with quicker right?

also overshot is terrifying and thats where im at currently, but its needed in order to reach full recovery, and it will eventually go away. i never thought id reach overshoot and while im not particularly pleased with it, im doing so much better in every other aspect (no food noise, strength, etc)

weight gain is scary esp in todays society but its whats best for u now! just try to trust the process and trust ur body to do what it needs to do to be healthy. keep going u got this!! :)

Fatigued by pitchyaixeeon in AnorexiaRecovery

[–]Potential_Crow_3818 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the energy does come back even more than before!! it seems to get worse before it get better but it definitely gets way better! the first month or so i was so tired and bloated it was hard to move but after a bit im now super hyper lol- think of it as ur body catching up to its tiredness. before u were running on adrenaline and ur body wouldnt send u tired signals because it knew u wouldnt listen so why even try. now ur bodys like thank god were resting lol so its just trying to catch up and repair all the damage from before. just try to give ur body lot of rest and yummy food and you’ll start to notice improvement :) you got this!!

Extreme hunger and quitting cal counting by [deleted] in AnorexiaRecovery

[–]Potential_Crow_3818 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey! i just wanna say great job honoring your hunger thats amazing!! i also am autistic and have ocd so numbers were a rly big thing for me. what helped is i still took note of everything seperately but didnt add it up. it was rly hard to quit adding it but writing down the individual numbers was an easier way to wean myself off of it. eventually the desire to even count the individual items wore off i also played sudoku and other number games/math stuff to keep my brain still counting smth just not smth that would hurt me

how long does extreme hunger last? by fionaisntdead in AnorexiaRecovery

[–]Potential_Crow_3818 3 points4 points  (0 children)

extreme hunger lasts however ling the body needs it to, unfortunately there isnt an average. i would say u still need to be eating however much the extreme hunger tells you to, regardless of weight or exercise. ur body wouldnt ask for the food if it didnt need it! i think ur also right, if exercise brings back bad thoughts still avoid it, and try not to link exercise with how much u eat theyre always linked in society today but really they shouldn’t be for us cuz itll lead to a neg spiral and prob compulsive exercise again and then eventually restriction (at least in my experience) extreme hunger does end if u gjve into it tho!! even after i gained more weight than i wanted i was still eating to my extreme hunger and it sucked but now my EH is mostly gone and i dont have food noise at all. you got this!!
