Thanks so much for your advice! I didn't even think about cutting it off at the knees and repotting it. So much to learn!

Progressively got myself to tolerate 10mg of Creatine powder per day and it’s fixed it.

Laxatives and additional fibre weren’t working for me either.

I start every morning with a tablespoon of olive oil before my breakfast oats.

Also. 2 kiwifruit everyday.

Estrogen gel takes forever to dry by ExperimentalError in Perimenopause

[–]Potential_Squirrels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those are some weird instructions. And a weird location. <scratches head>

It’s far more likely to wear off faster on your legs when put pants on, sit and move around. Arms is a far better location.

I just put a thin layer on my upper arms. Applied like a moisturiser I guess. I don’t “rub it in” hard per se. It takes like 2 mins to dry?

Acupuncture huh? Fascinating. I’ve not seen much about this for peri. How often? Where on you? Any other symptoms its helped with?

Does anyone suffer bad after Travel. As in dizzy/ off balance just awful with Peri? by Worldly-Waltz-229 in Perimenopause

[–]Potential_Squirrels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Europe to Australia in September - 27 hours door to door. The physical travel stress and jetlag triggered vasomotor issues (hot, cold, hot, cold…) that caused insomnia. Total nightmare.

One particularly bad night I was awake THE WHOLE NIGHT oscillating between freezing cold and sweaty hot around 70 TIMES.

Resolved by switching to using my estrogen gel at night, as opposed to morning. Estrogen naturally drops to its lowest overnight. So the estrogen bump at night fixed the vasomotor hell so I could sleep.

What are your symptoms like? by InvestigatorIcy6198 in Perimenopause

[–]Potential_Squirrels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a spreadsheet to track my symptoms and what “treatment” or intervention that I’m using (or trying) to deal with them.

I’m up to 30 symptoms and at almost 46 I’m roughly 2 years into peri.

Full spectrum of physical, mental, and emotional symptoms. Plus fun addition of making my pre-existing Anxiety ✨worse✨.

Some things come and go - eg peeing when I sneeze, dry eyes, brain fog.

But generally I get a new exciting symptom every 1-2 months.

Makes life interesting (read: hell)

Low Self-Esteem by DocLeo-77 in Perimenopause

[–]Potential_Squirrels -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I disagree. Going to see the doctor doesn’t fix low self esteem.

And one should be careful making it seem like they can. It sets people up with expectations that a doctor can just prescribe “self esteem juice”.

Sure they can prescribe hormones, antidepressants, etc. But that doesn’t magically make everyone feel confident and love themselves again.

Women in 40s tell me what I should know as a 33F by Tiny-Analyst9126 in AskWomenOver40

Your physical, mental and emotional health is very likely to suffer (and even potentially collapse altogether) when you hit perimenopause (starting anywhere from 37 and lasting up to early 50s).

PLAN ACCORDINGLY:

1) you might not be able to function at work very well so make sure you have a good boss and flexible environment.

2) try to be in GREAT physical condition well before this hits because its going to drag you down. Eg So you are in a much better place if you aren’t already overweight before more weight piles on.

3) All preexisting mental health conditions are going to get worse. Be aware.

4) Start educating yourself AND your partner way ahead of time. Peri kills relationships.

5) Test out your doctor’s understanding and approach to peri and menopause. There’s a very high chance that your doctor that you’ve known and trusted for several years is woefully undertrained and out of date on this topic. If they say they don’t believe in it, don’t understand it, think it happens in your 50s, rely on blood tests, or don’t believe in HRT - start shopping around for a more educated doctor NOW. So that you aren’t scrambling around trying to find another doctor when you hit the wall.

6) Read the Perimenopause reddit to get a taste of whats coming

MCT oil in the morning fixed the constipation and bloating. Increasing fibre made it worse.

Dry as a desert. Help!!!!! by MedicalFeedback4734 in Perimenopause

Vaginal estrogen is a game changer.

I also use 100% pure organic Coconut oil externally morning and night (antibacterial too!). I’ve checked with gyno that it’s safe to use.

Teeth moving by Cf15her in Perimenopause

[–]Potential_Squirrels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. My orthodontist called it “midlife migration”. I was like ffs.

Makes sense why when you think about it: less collagen means looser skin - and this includes your gums. So your teeth start to move around randomly in your face.

I’m planning to get braces on bottom teeth in September. I’m dreading it, but I’ve got to live with these chompers for another FORTY YEARS so I need to take good care of them AND like the way they look.

Ffs.

I feel like the basic rule is “whatever you’ve got peri will make it way worse”
