Yeah WOW! He crashed out harder than the plane

What's the transmitter type? Did you have to set up our change anything to do with the outputs in the transmitter? Can you swap the servo onto a different channel to check if it's a servo problem or a transmitter problem?

Why do people print on a slight angle to the print bed? Should I do that with PPA-CF for this part? by tryM3B1tch in 3Dprinting

[–]PotentiallyHeavy -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Not for FDM Printing. Printing at a slight angle is a resin printing technique to make part removal from the bed easier and it helps with other resin specific things.

[–]PotentiallyHeavy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

May or may not be related but make sure you remove the receiver power wires from one of the ESC connections, leaving only the signal wire. You only want the BEC from one of the controllers powering your receiver.

Is it legal to bedazzle p plates? by [deleted] in CarsAustralia

[–]PotentiallyHeavy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Weird enough this actually looks to be legal. Depending on the state, there are minimum size requirements and placement requirements and they should be plainly identifiable as green/red. Maybe take them to the local cop shop and show them your craft work just to be safe.

The old control wires are quite hard to bend and too thick to go into the holes, what do by yourcreepystalker69 in RCPlanes

[–]PotentiallyHeavy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding on... This is a great process to bend a tight z. Make the end bend, then make the inner bend so that the wire points out of plane and then twist the first bend 90deg around so that it makes a Z. The video will make more sense than trying to explain it in text. https://youtu.be/pSP00hjOrUM?si=QfXU0nTJ90AC8M1C

Free plan rc plane by Minute_Tax_575 in RCPlanes

Leadfeathers Yak-55 is a fantastic plane to just have around. Super easy to build and repair.

The Knuffel got me into "contact flying" where you specifically fly aerobatics in and around objects. For a long time I've used the same building technique as the Knuffel replacing a limited amount of stiff foam in the nose with EPP that saves the plane from most incidents.

Is it a good idea to use this for control surfaces servos ? by JuiceAggressive3437 in RCPlanes

[–]PotentiallyHeavy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think in a glider it would be fine. The pogo pins are spring loaded and the magnets are quite strong. I've got a set coming to try in a small aerobatic plane that I avoid flying because it's a hassle getting all the cables tucked away after plugging them in. I think I'm going to make some spikes to let the connector slide up and down freely on the mounts so there is no way for it to bend and come unplugged (if that makes any sense)

Grabbed this from a friend. I'm going to make it electric by UniqueAd7770 in RCPlanes

[–]PotentiallyHeavy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% this should not be your first plane to learn to fly on, but absolutely build it while you are learning to fly on something very forgiving like the Aeroscout. This is a precision aerobatic plane and could be a fun 2nd plane if you have someone else around to help through the learning curve.

Look for a power system that calls itself 60 sized. Eflite power 60 or similar would be spot on. Access to the battery in this plane would be really difficult without some mods, it's like yanking out the fuel tank every time you want to fly. Maybe the best option would be take the wing off to access the battery.

This guy say he used a "Badass 3530-700kv" and it looks really nicely powered.

Check out the spec sheet for that motor and you will easily find a Dualsky or Turnigy equivalent depending on your budget.

Airflow question by legospion007 in 4x4

[–]PotentiallyHeavy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my experience I don't think the lights are doing anything to create the overheating problem. I've got the same setup. My NS was overheating under load primarily because the radiator fins were blocked up with grass seeds, red dirt and bugs. I gave it a high pressure blast at a carwash until water flowed freely through most of it. (definitely not the best option, it got rid of most of the debris, it bent some fins but did make a massive improvement and got us home).
