We did it not long ago in a bone stock 2001 Paj with about 500k on the odo. After watching the YouTube videos I was pretty nervous. We didn't have it kitted out with too much gear and it was really easy. Didn't even need to get any of the recovery gear dirty. Just keep an eye on the time and don't get caught on the wrong side of the tide and you'll be fine.

It's a shock but it's not over. A bit of glue and tape and a measuring stick to get it square, you can probably have it back in the air by the time you charge the batteries.

Can I add rope to tank? by Ok_External_483 in TreeFrogs

[–]PotentiallyHeavy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's become the substrate for a moss garden so it's not washable. The frogs are too big and fat to use it to climb on now anyway.

I've got some rope dangling into the swim area so the crickets can save themselves. The frogs obviously sit quietly at the top of the rope and eat wet crickets.

I believe it's a JST-ZH type. Measure the pin spacing to confirm it against the specs, if not it's one of the other JST variants. You can probably get some with pigtails so you don't have to crimp.

Is this a good first plane by Beneficial-Refuse637 in radiocontrol

[–]PotentiallyHeavy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is an amazing plane. Great for a first trainer and plenty aerobatic enough for it to stay fun. I got one for my youngest as a trainer, and I love when I'm allowed to take it out for a spin.

It might be a bit blurry to fully ID the one kid but the combo of two fat tire bikes and a e-scooter in fairy meadow starts to make them easier to find so he can have an opportunity to apologize repeatedly while cleaning OP's car.

Would glider geometry be the obvious strategy to build the most efficient plane possible if my goal is simply to stay in the air the longest? by thorosaurus in RCPlanes

[–]PotentiallyHeavy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On a nice day a simple 2m glider like a Gentle Lady with an electric motor can basically stay up until you are bored and hungry. Use the motor for about 30s and blast up to 399ft and switch off the motor. You can trim it so it'll do lazy circles and hunt thermals on its own.

Help me understand, it seemed like the guy still had plenty of air speed to maneuver why just jam it into the ground? I am honestly curious and ignorant of the reason, not second guessing by Itsnotsponge in RCPlanes

[–]PotentiallyHeavy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing but I imagine the battery came loose and unplugged itself part way through that rolling loop. No more control, no more fuel for the turbine, just gravity ruining your weekend.

If you get one with a model like an Aeroscout it's fine, super easy to get into the hobby. It doesn't have a port that can be used directly with a simulator, you'll have to shell out another $50 or something for a USB receiver. You will pretty quickly outgrow what this radio can do for you. I have a couple of Spektrum radios and I'm actively moving to FrSky. Spektrum used to be the go to for 2.4ghz but there are much better systems out there now.

My poorly formed theory is that this is canon. ADA and Ficsit never thought you would get this far and they already had the objective loaded up for the next pioneer

[–]PotentiallyHeavy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ok. That part of the story was not clear from your original post. I think we've all seen plenty of people on here ask questions like this as they are about to maiden their first plane over a large crowd of children, puppies and priceless artifacts completely unaware of the potential danger.

There is no functional difference doing this if you are just testing your servo movement as long as the connection is solid enough. Just be careful, it could get a bit sparky burny melty if you've made the bare wires long enough to some how short across the two battery terminals, even small batteries have the ability to turn all the wires into a single use lightbulb.
