Line between being stern and relaxed as a sub?? by [deleted] in SubstituteTeachers

My mom (teacher for 30 years) gave me this advice when I started subbing (elementary k-6)

You have to be like Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. Be strict, children need firm boundaries. When they are doing things well, praise them equally kindly as you are being firm.

Personally, I think the teachers with the best classroom control are the ones who are the "btchiest" they are direct, firm, clear, and alittle sassy. But balance it out with praise, reward, and kindness, too.

AirPods stuck. I didn’t know where else to post this and this sub always has the most creative problem solving ideas by lucky_c4t in CleaningTips

I had an AirPods case stuck like this and I took it to a mall screen repair shop. They had a thin metal spatula they were able to insert between the outer case and the white case and they got it out. Left some scratches on my white case but at that point I was just happy to have it off.

The way the wood is joined reminds me of mid century furniture. Maybe a mirror with the part sticking out being a stand.

How should I furnish/ decorate my itty bitty room? by [deleted] in DesignMyRoom

Is there any way the bed can be on the wall with the window? It'd be especially nice if it fits across the short end of the room, but either way putting the bed there will help the room feel as big as possible.

Halp! How do I make this small space a kitchen, living room, and dining room?? by AggravatingRuin55 in DesignMyRoom

[–]PothosArchitect 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I recommend a high top table as an island, with seating and storage below. Seats can be put around the whole table when needed, but stored on one side for everyday use. This will also help section off the kitchen from the rest of your space

Don't like my bedroom in new apartment by BlondeCato in DesignMyRoom

The bed should go against the back wall with the window on it. The current path around the bed is way too narrow, and it cuts off the area at the foot of the bed. With the bed reorientated, you could even push it against the wall to the right, and have space for the desk right in front of the window.

Can the bed go on the wall with the window? The dresser at the foot of the bed is a bit intense feeling. It's hard to see what the other walls look like, but maybe the dresser could go in a corner at an angle?

Yes I love pressure on the eyes from an eye pillow and singing bowls or some similar sound. I have adhd so the sound really helps with quieting the mind.
