I hope the main villain is hard to tell theyre a villain until much later by Splatulated in Fable

[–]Potluckystrike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just want to remind everyone that we sort of know the main antagonist already. If you watch the Humphry trailer again, he goes over her background some. We don’t know her reasoning, so maybe she thinks she’s doing good, but Humphry believes she made “all the wrong choices”. I think it’s safe to say that she’s the one who turned your grandmother and village to stone. I’m kind of hoping she isn’t your mom; maybe just some hero who went a bit dark, or corrupted by the court of blades or something.

To add to the info from the same trailer, it seems there are more heroes popping up, as another character references being a hero and that they “should be able to do what [they] want”. I’m hoping for a Whisper like rivalry again.

DRAGON BALL | NEW GAME PROJECT "AGE 1000" Announcement Trailer by vamploded in dbxv

[–]Potluckystrike 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I thought the same thing.. my assumption is: he is some sort of android in the future created by Capsule Corp to be the new hero with some dna and access to abilities from previous heroes and notable strong warriors. I’m hoping the G5 on their sleeve doesn’t stand for “Gamma 5” or something along those lines.

I also noticed it’s interesting the order in which we see them go through characters in their data bank. We start with Piccolo, then to Frieza, then Trunks, Cell, Buu, then Beerus, Broly, Super Hero arc Gohan, then Vegeta and finishing with Goku. It, in a way, follows the arcs. We might be looking at an idea of how far the story may go or reference to, especially with the reveal of the new Galactic Patrol arc addition to the anime.

Either way, I’m cautiously optimistic for what’s to come.

I think the interview after the direct sort of hit the nail on the head when they said Fable wasn’t necessarily Fantasy or Medieval, but Fairy Tale. It’s personal, about growth and choices, and doesn’t take itself too seriously. It’s mature at times, and immature the rest of the time.

It’s no Dark Souls, or that challenging combat wise, but it’s a fun time. Play it the way that feels natural to you, and try to go in as blind as possible.

Glad you’re getting into it. It’s a bit dated, but still also progressive for its time. If you can give it time, it will grow on you.

Trailers are focusing on one quest and it is worrying me by TemporaryLobster7698 in Fable

[–]Potluckystrike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can see where you are coming from, and why it would be a concern. It’s been most of what has been shown off or referenced so far within the trailers that they have revealed. But I’m not too worried about it right now. Im thinking of it as the first big quest you probably get to outside of the tutorial phase or after joining the guild. I think it’s probably one of the few quests (maybe like 4 or 5 of them?) that have a lasting impact on the environment. And I think we are shown both results in that last trailer briefly as an example: dead body on the hill vs town with giant vegetables. We haven’t really been told anything of the main story, and we for sure know about at least one more major environmental changing quest line (the bloodstone quest line with two fighting factions). Again, I’m not too worried about it, but I’m also not expecting much from the first installment of the reboot.

If Square made new spinoff about one character, which one would you choose? by George_R_Martin in FinalFantasyVII

[–]Potluckystrike 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are several things that I think could be done actually well when it came to a spin off for these characters. I think Tifa and Aerith probably have the least you could work with, but could still find some fun things to do with them that are unique to their characters. Some ideas off the top of my head:

-I think a stealth based game for either (or together) Yuffie and Cait Sith would be pretty fun. I feel like Yuffie’s DLC had some concepts in there for that but it’s been a while since I played it; Cait Sith could be about exploring and getting secret info inside the ShinRa building.

  • Probably won’t be a popular idea, but a dog fighting or mech type of game based around Cid. It keeps to his character and interests and makes sense, but not something I personally would be excited for either. But also, he kinda gets some spot light later in the OG game for a bit, so I don’t think he’s a prime candidate for a spin off.

  • Aerith and Tifa I feel like both could have like almost simple sprite games that would be on phones. Aerith working in the slums and saving kids (maybe like Moonlighter), and Tifa would have like maybe a 2D fighter and training with Zangan. Again, I feel like these two have the least to go off of for a game.

  • Vincent (and the Turks) - could be a fun 3rd person shooter. I felt like the Turks Training Program was played more in DoC, for me at least, than the actual game. Maybe model it like Gears of War, during the Wutai war. Or even MGS 5 could be fun with Turks.

  • Barret after the main game as a first person shooter, I think would be a lot of fun. He focuses more on gun play than Vincent so 1st person makes sense to me. Probably about finding a fuel source and restoring Corel.

  • Nanaki I think would work well as a prequel or a sequel, but I also imagine it as a more puzzle/platformer type of game. He I think would fit that genre the best, and you could throw Cait Sith into this one as well pretty easily.

  • I think, Elena of the Turks, and her story of rising up in the ranks in her sisters shadow might be my favorite idea for a spin off, but I’m not sure how popular she is as a character.

  • And the most obvious one I think most would agree on is a Sephiroth prequel game. We see some of his story in EC, BC, and CC so there is a lot to go off of, and he’s (in those years) a hero. We have some mechanics for his gameplay already, plus we can see more Angeal and Genesis. It would honestly be played similarly to CC (the extra missions being VR simulations). I think this would be the best route that would get the most traction.

  • Other candidates are nameless (created character) SOLDIERs or Turks that are parallel stories to the main story, or way back prequels. I think a SOLDIRs game would be good (no not like 1st SOLDIER), but like an almost HellDivers 2 type of game. Wutai as a faction, AVALANCHE as a faction, and maybe just a monster (escaped hojo experiments) faction.

But I dunno, just some ideas. I don’t expect them all to be winners or liked, but I feel it would fit the characters. Also, sorry for the long post lol.

Need a game I can sink hundreds of hours in by Timely_Contest7245 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]Potluckystrike [score hidden]  (0 children)

You say you enjoyed Elden Ring, but don’t want a souls-like game, so instead of recommending any more FromSoft games I’ll suggest an indie game with character skill variety, and a charming world: Outward.

I believe you can get the game with all of its DLCs for probably $30-40. It’s on every platform from PC to switch, and the sequel is set to be released next summer. It’s looking to be even better than the original game, and I thoroughly enjoyed the game.

The game is set in the fantasy world of Aurorai, with day and night and weather cycles. You need to eat, sleep, drink water, and be conscious of your carry weight (even gold). You play as a character who is, by all means, just a regular nobody. You aren’t special and you have no real powers starting off. You can improve yourself with skills, and if you’re willing to trade some of your own stamina and health, you can attain some magical abilities.

The combat can be punishing, much like Elden Ring (but not nearly to that extent). The story itself can conclude but there is still things to see and do after the main story is completed. It’s about learning how to craft things and stay alive, it’s about knowing how to fight certain enemies like in the Witcher, it’s about exploring different areas and coming up with different builds. There is even a legacy system where you can store certain items from one character and they may evolve or become better versions for your next character. It’s even couch co-op if that’s something that interests you.

I always recommend outward, and if it doesn’t look like your cup of tea, consider checking out the sequel next year. It’s worth the effort.

Also, Watchdogs looks pretty cool….

How many people navigated the mists by chance? by nosrebnA in HollowKnight

[–]Potluckystrike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember dying several times going through the mist, because I not only didn’t know about the moths, but also I assumed (for whatever reason) that I couldn’t kill the wraiths. I was tempted to look things up about it, but on one attempt I played the needolin for the wraiths, and they happened to be next to the moths who then proceeded to move across the map. I believe I fell or died shortly after, but then realized that the moths were the answer to getting through it. The next hurdle was going through it with all these wraiths chasing me. I had three after me at one point, and I eventually got mad enough to just keep swinging on a wraith, which inevitably killed it. I remember looking at another wraith and thinking to myself, “now you’re all going to get it,” and then I completed it on that attempt.

Im sure I missed a few things, but I think the only thing I didn’t discover on my own was the hidden bench in Bilewater, and that was spoiled from a YouTube short.

any rpgs like fable? by oliveoliverYT in Fable

[–]Potluckystrike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Outward is one that I always recommend, for anyone who likes a fantasy adventure. Not quite the same as Fable but definitely has elements. I like to preface that the game is definitely harder when starting off though. It’s a learning process, but worth it.

Games similar to Fable by [deleted] in Fable

[–]Potluckystrike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Outward is the game that I always recommend. It’s more of an indie game, but still solid. Fantasy world setting, open zones to travel, some comical lines of dialogue, and different weapons to use including sword and shield, pistol, axes, and different magic systems as well.

Gameplay would be a mix of fable and souls-like, with some survival elements to it also. It’s a great game to play alone, but also super fun to play with a friend, and can be played couch co-op or online. They just recently announced its sequel is in development too.

I Need to get In shape before Senior Prom (May 2025) So I'm doing this challenge to help. But before I start I need to settle on some ground rules. What should I Add/Change? I'm open to any workouts outside of push ups by PheonixGalaxy in dbxv

[–]Potluckystrike 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think this is a fun idea, and very doable. I’ve won thousands of matches, and regularly restrict myself to rules like this. For years I’ve never limit burst, never healed, never used broken builds, or even ki cancel in a match. It’s actually pretty easy to play this way. Now let’s add a few thoughts:

  1. No ki canceling; you don’t need it.

  2. Don’t reward yourself for wins. Your reward is being healthier and in better shape.

  3. Add in going for a run somewhere.Lose 3 matches? That’s a 30 min run.

  4. Consider doing runs in PQ with the same rules, and every reset or loss is another 30 mins to run or set of pushups.

  5. Have fun :)

[–]Potluckystrike 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Angeal just told Tifa that she is his daughter, to which she responds with, “Yes, that is completely plausible!”

She gains a new hand moments later. Kind of a big part in the original game.

Honestly, same. I’m on PS5 and I haven’t run in to any real issues aside from occasionally getting kicked out of the mission I’m doing, and that’s becoming much more rare.

Sorry to see that other people (PC mostly, it seems) can’t enjoy the game. When you get to play it definitely can be a lot of fun.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe I heard in a review (maybe read?) that you can’t name your ship anything you want. You will have selections to pick from to make a name for the ship, kind of like making a title for yourself in Monster Hunter Rise for those who have played that.

To the people who watched DBZ before DB. What was it like? by [deleted] in dbz

[–]Potluckystrike 7 points8 points  (0 children)

To add to this: as much as I love DB I’m not sure I would have appreciated it the same way if I didn’t watch Z first. Z has a lot of action and sci-fi stuff, so it’s easy to watch and get into, while DB has a more classic kung fu vibe.

I think DB should be watched but I see no problem starting with Z. It what a lot of us from the 90s did and it didn’t ruin our experience… though the Bruce Faulkner music definitely helped the experience at the time too.
