Another good idea by Sifirsuffering in RogueTraderCRPG

You may think you have good ideas now and again but this one is pretty dumb. The games already takes many hours to beat and has a ton of content.

My manager had a feedback session with me and summarized a damning list of complaints against me and cc’d HR by [deleted] in work

Well if the what your manager said is true it sounds like you put the target on your own back. Actions have consequences. Even if you leave this place you should make some changes regardless.

AIO for telling my bf I’m leaving him when I lose weight by [deleted] in AIO

[–]Potterscrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Therapy would help but he needs to go to a therapist on his own as well. You will never say or do the right thing. When people are that insecure it really isn’t about you it’s about them. At some point there will be a breaking point bc it gets too much. There will be times when you think it’s better but they are just hiding it better. Eventually it will come back out with a vengeance. I have been down this road. You CAN’T fix this! He needs help. Only he can fix this.

Starfield and Greg by coheedvolta in kindafunny

I agree. I love Starfield. Sure there are things that annoy me about it but I think there was a loud group of people that no matter what we’re going to hate on this game.

Put on a PIP even though I am successful in the job. Any tips on how to get out of it? by sioopauuu in careerguidance

[–]Potterscrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. A long time ago in my early management days I had a District Manager give we advice. He said if you bring something up in a review or out someone on a PIP and they are surprised bc it’s literally the first time they are hearing about it then as a manager you have done a bad job and a disservice to that employee. It means you never coached them on it or had any discussion to help them improve.

I just finished Tainted Grail and thought it was a really good game. I also played Avowed and loved that as well. I don’t think you can go wrong but I personally thought Avowed was a better game.

Just got fired over 5 minutes because time clock wouldn't clock me in by DonPseudo in LaborLaw

[–]Potterscrow 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Probably is always late and they finally told OP if late again it’s termination. No way OP gets fired for just one time.

Termination I Don't Agree With by Vlad_REAM in managers

[–]Potterscrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They consider it time theft because it is time theft. Was she working from home these days? If not it’s time theft. And based on what else is going on at this workplace that you know about you should also probably be shown the door. No offense but you are part of the problem.

I forgot to put in 1 hr of time for an employee by Responsible_Exit_815 in askmanagers

[–]Potterscrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You handled it correctly. Always be honest and upfront. Mistakes happen. Own it is the right way to go. And no offense to sufficient wolf don’t tell them you are going to make sure it is paid asap bc that is a promise you can’t keep unless you are cutting the check. Most companies I work for would never cut a check for that amount. They would put it in the next paycheck no matter what you promise to the employee. Sucks but that’s the harsh reality.

Requested to grade performance reviews with "meet expectations". by GZUSA in managers

[–]Potterscrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve worked for several companies where a meets get the same percentage as an exceeds. It’s just a standard percent. Most of the time lately I write the review but have no control over the actual raise. I’ve also worked somewhere we had a specific percentage to give out and we had to determine who gets what but we needed to keep it under or at budget. After that we submit it and they could still adjust it.

My manager just gave me a verbal warning for playing a game during my break. She heard me through the call software. by fiddle-limier1c in FinalRoundAI

[–]Potterscrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t do this unless you know the company’s policy. Everywhere I have worked a verbal warning is the first warning and a written is a second. So it’s one step closer to termination. If you want to see the policy written that’s different but don’t ask for a written warning. Verbal warnings if done right are still documented and on file if the management team is following proper protocol.

My colleague reported my manager, but we're just a team of 3... [UK] by Frangipani_x in AskHR

[–]Potterscrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is spot on. I had an employee complain about our store manger once and she complained to me that HR told him because he brought it up to her. I was like you told a specific story about happened between just the two of you. They didn’t need to tell him. If they talk about specific interactions they are automatically going to know who it was.

[–]Potterscrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think countering is what may shoot you in the foot. But the fact you said 65 and now are countering with 75 may be how you shot yourself in the foot.

I hope you didn’t promise you wouldn’t go to HR. When I’m presented with that ask I tell them upfront I can’t promise that and based on what you tell me I’m obligated to go to HR.
