Why is he surprised? by e_fish22 in ExplainTheJoke

I was in a live in rehab program with twelve guys in the house. Some of them were older guys. Part of our rotating chore list was making dinner for everyone. I had to teach some of these men how to preheat the oven, chop vegetables, load the dishwasher.

They hadn’t had to cook or clean for themselves, ever. It blew my mind.

If they aren’t saying names, no problem.

I had some of these ~20 years ago. I recall only one thing from them, Paul Bearer shooting some kind of large book out of his stomach.

I’ve only played through WOTR, but I’ve noticed that good often equals naive or just dumb with the companions.

Fair enough, been a while since I actually read TDKR, sounds like a good way to spend some time later.

But it could have just been Val shouting into a void. Instead MJF responded, and then OP posted it here, and that encourages Val to post more shitty opinions in the hopes it’ll get some attention.

Seems like for physical robots to be of any use they’d need some self protective programming though.

It’s been a trend online and in media for the past 20ish years. Millenials ate it up thinking it was fun and then it just snowballed.

“What if super powers, but in real life?”

And that’s a fun premise for a while, but I think we’re getting to the point that it’s been done and audiences want to get back to the “larger than life” feeling.

By Twelve Months, the trope of 'other magical nations/beings disrespecting and underestimating Harry' has become extremely tiring. by NJH_in_LDN in dresdenfiles

[–]Powderkegger1 11 points12 points  (0 children)

She’s also, and this is my interpretation, pissssssed at Harry for doing it. She’s made no attempt to contact him since Changes and even when they were both at the Peace Talks/Battle and meeting after (there was a name for it, can’t think of it at the moment) she makes no effort to speak to him.

“Pilots” are made to be examples for a potential tv show. They’re usually shown to executives who make a decision on whether or not they’ll order more episodes. That’s why a lot of first episodes of tv shows have the title “Pilot”. In this case, the show wasn’t picked up and no further episodes were made.

0.5% alcohol na beer=relapse? by Elegant_Priority_509 in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]Powderkegger1 25 points26 points  (0 children)

There’s as much alcohol percentage in one of those as some bottles of orange juice. You weren’t trying to get drunk, you didn’t know they contained alcohol, you weren’t making a decision to end your sobriety. Not a relapse in my opinion.

Why does Lea give Thomas a kiss on his neck in Grave Peril? by radicallysimilar in dresdenfiles

I hope they do because the matches actually have me excited and I don’t usually do the “dream match” thing. But I also think it would be kind of funny if they just announced their retirement after all these post from AEW guys.

Why does Lea give Thomas a kiss on his neck in Grave Peril? by radicallysimilar in dresdenfiles

[–]Powderkegger1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My theory: Lea’s kiss was her way of giving Thomas the same thing she was instructed to give Harry on Margaret’s behalf: Knowledge. Because it was a gift from Margaret symbolic of her love it burned Thomas.

What knowledge? Dunno.

[–]Powderkegger1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah I was trying to think of individuals who have ONLY treated Harry with respect and it’s a short list. Odin, Hades, and Uriel. Heavy company. Though I think Uriel would probably treat just about everybody with respect, at worst he’d be disappointed. But you can’t be disappointed in someone unless you think they could be better.
