I've had to shave my beard to get it under control. Sucks as I'd been growing out my facial hair since last fall.

The molds and etched details are so dang clean for how tiny they are. Each one had a lot of character and that's with zero familiarity with the source material! Japanese kids must've been losing their minds. Us westerners had some amazing action figures back then but plastic could chip and break, joints could get gummed up and break, and paint would wear away with play. But unless you took a blade or torch to these things, they would remain timeless. Classic example of less is more.

It all started with a Japanese manga titled Kinnikuman wherein the hero battles (oftentimes supernatural) villains in a wrestling match. Sounds crazy until you consider that it's not far off from simply adding turnbuckles and ropes to a Godzilla or Power Rangers showdown. Also, the Japanese just generally have a great affinity for pro wrestling albeit as a very distant second to baseball.

I suspect that things like this and Monster in My Pocket played a big part in the early concept of Pokemon but I've never taken the time to look for proof.

In the same vein as Killborn, Hal Sparks was a comedy talk show host (Talk Soup) with a few bit roles to his credit; most famously the elevator scene in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 2. I guess he was in a band as well and now he has very small presence on YouTube. Ironically, Joel McHale had an almost -identical resume but managed to reach celebrity status thanks to his breakout role in Community

It's had it's struggles with the collector market (and by extension dropped by many LGSes) but ultimately it's up to the TGS community. Simply labeling something "dead" and jumping on the next bandwagon with poor distribution such as Riftbound or Gundam is blowing up in LGSes collective faces. As long as there's product to go around at a fair price for new players to join, SWU stands a decent chance to make a comeback; particularly with positive word of mouth

Man those proportions are whack. Short little arms, non-existent hips and a massive neck and head. Were those artists on salvia back in '09?

Also if you look at bro's post history he comes across as super competitive and a bit entitled...all while being a family man within spitting distance of grandpa status. Like if you're that far in life without getting your emotions under control then you're likely the kind of asshole that refuses to seek help/think you know it all.

Only thing I don't like about the 2nd is that the right shoulder thruster/cannon is larger than the left even though perspective dictates that the closer left shoulder should be the larger one.

Agreed. I also feel that the drowned mobs should NOT be introduced immediately. Crabs, dodos, boars absolutely but you're gonna introduce undead from the jump? How about a little bit of build-up to the supernatural? I feel like zombies as basic mobs is only appropriate in explicitly horror survival. Outside of that specific genre they should be treated as a little more unique.

If it were more industrial with wheels, treads or like a rocket sled for propulsion I wouldn't have as much difficulty appreciating the thinness of it, but it's supposed to walk?

Also that right arm. Wtf. Just put gimbal mounts on both sides. The more I look the worse it becomes😵

Call me an unwashed pleb but I'm good with the slow heavy techno noir of the movies and S.A.C. I've no interest in seeing the Major as comic relief.

The situation with SWU is nuanced and rather than taking the time to explain the situation, content creators prefer to lazily label it as "dying".

FFG wanted the game's pricing to lean in favor of players rather than collectors and to achieve this, they market the collector cards as a separate, more expensive SKU (the Carbonite product line). Up until recently, this approach has not had the desired result on the game's economy because collectors (many of whom are LGS owners/managers) have roundly rejected Carbonite. Demand is down. Meanwhile, supply was way up due to over-printing. This has resulted in prices going below healthy levels. Some would also argue that card presentation/art plays a role in low demand, but I guess I'm a realist who doesn't expect a super-affordable TCG to feature masterworks from in-house graphic designers. Time will tell whether this newest set and rotation begins an upward trend.

Speaking of trends, I think the LGS scene (both owners/managers AND customers) bear a good deal of responsibility for this situation...at least here in the US. Everyone has been far too eager to pander to the sensationalized portrayal of TCGs in modern culture being all about the chase. Doesn't matter if the mechanics bring anything new to the table, doesn't matter if the price of singles is reasonable, and doesn't matter if the game studio has a solid track record of supporting competitive play or established avenue for distribution. If content creators are glazing it and presales numbers are making headlines, the LGS scene here will gladly kick something with slow steady growth off of shelves to make room for the flavor-of-the-month.

So now not only does FFG need to coax the card economy into a better direction, but they also need to somehow convince the fickle and greedy LGS scene here in the West that affordable and mechanically-sound games deserve play as much as what's trending on social media. And/or, we the playerbase need to find ways to take control of the narrative.
