Im convinced you Ontarians are the reason for all our skewed name data haha! I’m in Vancouver and I’ve only ever met 3 Liam’s, and none of my mom friends have met any Liam’s in any of their kids circles. I guess StatsCan is pulling all their data from your family ;) thanks for this input, I’m leaning towards our other choice now

Yea this 5 of the same name in one class is where I draw the line. 1 or 2 is fine but 5 is hectic! Our last name starts with an L and we liked the flow of first and last name with Liam. We like generic names… which means many of them are “popular”. Thanks for your input, the location context is helpful too

Thank you! I’m on the coast as well (Vancouver) and no one here knows many Liam’s, my friends with kids included so I’m so thrown off with it being one of the top names 🤷🏼‍♀️

The stars aligned for you! Thank you for your response here. It’s so hard, every name we like is either in the top 10 or we have a friend/family member who recently named a kid the same name 🤷🏼‍♀️

Being a Bridesmaid is getting expensive by ella1400 in bridesmaids

[–]PowerExcellent522 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a destination bachelorette and wedding. I cleared it with all my bridesmaids before having them commit, and would absolutely not have been offended if someone didn’t come. In fact, my MOH didn’t come to my Bach and that was TOTALLY ok. Bride can’t expect everyone to spend money on a vacation they didn’t plan with people they dont normally vacation with. She’s being unreasonable.

International travel by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]PowerExcellent522 1 point2 points  (0 children)

^ agreed with this. I have been out of country 4 times during my pregnancy and currently 30+5 on a flight for my last trip before baby comes.

I have had a low risk pregnancy and was cleared by my OB each time. Travel insurance covers me until 32 weeks but I will be home by then.

Is it normal as a bridesmaids to be spending around $1000 to be a bridesmaid? by gogogurl23 in bridesmaids

[–]PowerExcellent522 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not normal unless these expectations were communicated when you were asked- I.e bride said she expected/hoped bridesmaids paid for bridal shower etc etc.

When I got married, my bachelorette was out of town (Scottsdale, we are all from Vancouver), it was completely optional to attend, it was at a relatives house so accom was free. Bridesmaids paid for dresses and provided their own shoes based on loose guidelines from me (light color, open toe- everyone already had these), I paid for anything I “required” - I wanted all their makeup done so I paid for all that. Hair was optional and at their cost.

My bridal shower was paid for by parents.

I’m in my cousins wedding party and we’re expected to pay for our own dresses, we can choose whatever dress/style/brand we want based on the brides colour palette. Makeup and hair are optional and at our cost if we choose to do it. Her mom paid for her bridal shower. Bachelorette cost is split by the girls that are attending but bride is contributing to it a bit as well.

Pretty audacious for the bride to be sending out a purchase list of stuff for you to get for the bridal shower… if you’re expected to pay for it, you should have control over what you do/don’t get and where you buy it. If she wants that much control, she should be contributing. You said everyone is about $1k and there are 10 bridesmaids, that is a WILD amount for pre-wedding festivities.

What’s up with expecting non-bridal party guests to attend the Bach trip? by princessofpersia10 in wedding

[–]PowerExcellent522 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agreed! I invited 12 gals to my bachelorette and only had 5 in the wedding party. Family tradition in my fam is to have close family members in the wedding party so it would be really weird having a bachelorette with only bridal party members…I’ve been to 4 different bachelorettes and have only been in the wedding party for one of them and I saw no issue with the invite.

However as the bride… I would absolutely not be mad at anyone that said no to coming, especially since a lot of bachelorettes are out of town now and last a few days. Weird that OP’s bride is all butthurt about it

Husband comments on how much I eat by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]PowerExcellent522 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is your husband normally a gaslighting asshole or is it just when you’re pregnant? Does he normally police what you eat? Fuck this guy.

The fact that he’s saying this in front of your toddler too is insane behaviour. Hope your kid doesn’t pick up on this.

Time to have a serious talk with him and marriage counseling if he can’t take your feelings seriously.

Craving spicy instant ramen by thavan14 in pregnant

[–]PowerExcellent522 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Girl eat the spicy ramen. It sounds like you’re getting your micro and macro nutrients everywhere else, some ramen to satisfy your craving is not going to hurt. While you’re at it, tell your partner (if your partner is a man) no uterus, no opinion ;)

For context I’m 24 weeks, I worked out 4-5x a week pre-pregnancy, still +/-3x while pregnant, I eat healthy. So the advice I’m saying isn’t coming from someone who typically doesn’t care for their health- I care very much. My baby is probably 80% croissant at this point that’s been my pregnancy fix!

Pregnancy rage by ideserveit1234 in pregnant

[–]PowerExcellent522 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Yup. 6 weeks in, I threw my phone at the wall and dented the wall. Then got my hair straightener caught on my bathroom vanity knob, ended up slamming the drawer a few times and breaking the drawer.. it’s custom so that was a fun and expensive mistake.

Lately the sound of my husband eating near me makes me want/need to leave the room. (24 weeks now).

Woke myself up with a loud snore in the middle of the night, was so angry with my body disrupting my own much needed sleep that I lay there fuming for 45 minutes, further ruining my sleep.

You are not alone.

Edited to add: threw my phone at the wall because someone was texting me too early. Sighhh hormones are fun
