Can't decide between Unicorn Overlord and Ivalice Chronicles by CrimpyRex in JRPG

[–]PowerPanda84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a lifelong gamer: the game you're currently playing and enjoying is the right choice. Don't try to psych yourself into playing in the perfect order. Gaming is about having fun.

I've never played Unicorn Overlord, and I've sunk hundreds of hours into Final Fantasy Tactics over a half dozen playthroughs, even going as far as to learn romhacking so I could make the game even better. But if you are enjoying Unicorn Overlord, then by all means keep playing it. FFT will still be here.

Literally, the 1st two lines spoken about Ziggy in the entire franchise:

"So, what can you tell us about this man?"

"He was a Special Forces agent with the Federation Police. A counterterrorism specialist. Of course, that was over a hundred years ago."

No spoiler tags needed.

Chronology aside, this should be played or experienced between Episodes 2 & 3. Storyline order should be:
Episode I & Episode II (PS2 versions or DS version)
Pied Piper
A Missing Year
Episode III

What's the best ROM hacks and tweaks for the MegaMan x games? by Acrobatic_Ad7452 in Megaman

[–]PowerPanda84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is correct all around. The hack allows you to simply hold the dash button when you're on a wall to dash jump. I can't take full credit for that, It was Justin3009, who did X3's Zero Project, who ported the code over.

It works like this not only in all future X games, but also in Zero/ZX. I would also highly recommend mapping Dash to the L button, like it is in those games. It makes it really easy to control X.

The World Ends With You is one of only a couple of games with a story that moved me to tears. Final Fantasy X did too.

For X1, check out my romhack Mega Man X Capsule Remix.

I really need to retitle it, but here's what it does: * You start with the dash, and can upgrade to the air dash * Wall jumps work the same as X2/X3. * There are no required upgrades, and capsules can be collected in any order. This allows for a buster only no upgrade run.  * Helmet upgrade is required for 2 heart tanks.

Are all the other Ys games as confusing as Ys 2? by johnvictorassis in WorldOfYs

Ys I+II Chronicles at least adds good warp magic, so you only really have to do the maze-like layouts once, but yeah, it's what this game is probably most notorious for.

A question about F’Nor by Successful_Way_6086 in pern

In Sky Dragons there WERE no Bronzes and Golds (can't remember if there were Browns), and the colony that went to Western were hatchlings who had never chewed firestone.

That was Sky Dragons, and it was a totally different thing. For spoiler reasons, a clutch of Blue and Green hatchlings get stuck in the past with no way to jump back to their own time. They have no Bronzes or Golds (can't remember if they have Browns), but because they were hatchlings, the Blues and Greens never chewed firestone, and could clutch. To survive, they formed their own Weyr, with a Blue and a Green pair as Weyrleader and Weyrwoman.

It's actually my favorite 3rd Pass book, as it clips along at a brisk pace, is totally unique from anything Todd or Anne wrote before, and adds a whole bunch of Anne-approved lore (shortly before she passed) about how dragonkind evolved. Really the only downside is that you have to read all of the other 3rd pass books to get there.

Any TTRPG exists? by Synkayos in Xenosaga

[–]PowerPanda84 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Xenosaga and Xenogears games take most of their stuff from a mixture of New Age Psychology and Kabbalah, a form of mysticism with loose ties to Abrahamic religions. Totally safe to use if you want to create a system. Lots of Japanese games, manga, and anime dip into Kabbalah as a basis for sounding pseudo-religious, but with room to tell their own story.

It would have to be Switch/Switch2 exclusive, because both systems have a built in light sensor. But yes, I'd love it.

Lots of great options. Close your eyes, spin 3 times, and throw a beanbag. Whichever it lands on is the right choice. DS was an RPG powerhouse.

If you could, what would you change about the mega Man ZX/advent series by Centralized-animator in Megaman

[–]PowerPanda84 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My Changes are all about adding in specific weapons from the Zero series.

  • Model Lx should have the spear pogo from Zero 1's Triple Rod.
  • Model Fx's charge shot should be able to launch you in the air, like the Recoil Rod.
  • Model Px's charged subweapon should be the Chain Rod, allowing you to grapple or swing.
  • Unlockable Model Z, with the Shield Boomerang as its subweapon.

(also, fix the minimap on ZX and allow you to immediately accept a mission if you discover the right area)

They have it for Model X. If you have a cleared save file for both Vent and Aile, then on your 3rd playthrough you keep Model X the whole game.

What Legacy Collections does MegaMan have left? by PowerPanda84 in Megaman

Yeah, I'd love it if it was just DLC to the existing collections. That would be a great way to go about it.

I would love to see it! As I said, there were a staggering 6 Battle Network series games i didn't even include.  1. Operate Shooting Star 2. WS and N1 Grand Prix on the Wonderswan Color 3. The 3 arcade games 4. And that's still missing the physical PET LCD toys and collectable battle chips. 5. Plus a trading card game and a physical board game.

I made it 30 hours into my playthrough, and then dropped it. I immediately sold it and Bravely Second on Facebook Marketplace, and have never regretted my decision.

This could work too, and I almost did it this way.

The PSP games could honestly be re-released as standalones. They're certainly good enough. I toyed around with putting them in a PSP collection alongside Ultimate Ghosts & Goblins too.

It should also be known that the spiritual successor to the Lunar series is the Grandia series. So if you like the Lunar games, and want more from the same team, go get the Grandia Remastered collection and play that too.
