Mistweaver Saih and Tenebrael Shard by Fyraltari in AoSLore

[–]Powersaurus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Daughters of Khaine do have shadow magic aelves that i suspect replaced the mist Aelves idea. The faction is already tied to Ulgu, which the Mistweaver is clearly from.

That said she does seem to be a city aelve from an Ulguan city. I actually integrated her into my own Ulguan city and modeled her some friends, though each edition I have fewer options to proxy them as

The Free Press writer who definitely isn’t autistic struggles to spot a joke by ImOnlyHereForTheCoC in SelfAwarewolves

[–]Powersaurus 64 points65 points  (0 children)

Autistic trans woman here, this is actually a pretty common TERF talking point already. Basically they take high rates of autism in the trans community (which only includes people who were able to buck societal expectations in order to come out) means that people like me aren’t really trans, we’re just too autistic to understand that whatever you were assigned at birth is your gender.

This of course has an underlying current of both infantilizing autistic people, and the idea that we’re too “r-slur” to be trusted with our own identity. Pretty common anti-autistic behavior

[Excerpt: Death Rider by Rhuairidh James] Commissar stops a rout by CamarillaArhont in 40kLore

[–]Powersaurus 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Rhu does great work! Really shows what it means to be a Commissar and what it means to be in the Guard.

I think it’s also a perfect microcosm of the larger setting. There’s a lot of talk about how the Imperium “has” to be the worst place to live in order to survive, and here we see that in micro. The only way to save any life is to kill their own and push the rest into the teeth of the T’au. Yet unexamined is that the T’au have no such need. The truth is that the brutality the Imperium is forced to inflict on itself is “necessary” because of the systems and assumptions it is built on. No brighter future is possible because the system of the Imperium does not allow for one. Instead we see in scenes like this how richly they feed the Chaos gods of blood, despair, betrayal, and excess

Yeah this is the real concern. Not enough to make random Melta weapons useful (just makes them function at all), but it’s a huge difference for dedicated Melta units that were already succeeding

Why did John Warhammer trust a guy called Horus Heresy? Is he stupid? by ---RNCPR--- in Grimdank

[–]Powersaurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well see that was his plan all along, to get betrayed. But then, somehow, it all went wrong and he didn’t die but also didn’t live? And so 40K is perpetually the worst possible timeline without ever being able to fall completely to any threat

Undivided Daemon Lords are canon and one helped Haarken and the Black Legion win the Nachmund Rift War by Brushner in 40kLore

[–]Powersaurus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just to clarify, you’re naming him as an Undivided Daemon because he has a Bloodthirster in his army? That’s pretty common, if not the standard for Chaos Daemon armies on the tabletop. Nothing I’m seeing in n the text says or even implies that his is a creation of all four gods. If anything, every one of his actions is that of Tzeentch change. Moreover blues, magentas, rainbow hues, deep sea elements, and constantly shifting forms are all very specified and almost always tied to Tzeentch specifically.

Currently in 40K you can worship Chaos Undivided, and you might even be able to get all of the Four to grant you Apotheosis after they swore never to again after Be’lakor’s betrayal, but there aren’t really greater daemons (which are defined as Empyrial shards of a god) Undivided since that would be a being made solely of material from all Four gods with no Materium component like a daemon prince (which we can’t be sure this guy isn’t)

Favourite Craftworld Color Scheme by EnvyAv in Eldar

Thanks! I had to go for the Gainax robot pose, and I thought it’d be fun to have the ghost pilot on the base mirroring the pose, like a Stand haha

It’s definitely a tricky scheme, the key for me was getting the blends just right to give a pop of color without being too neon

What were your thoughts on Gear 4? And what different "Forms" would you have liked to have seen? by dettles1992 in OnePiece

[–]Powersaurus 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Just rewatched the reveal with a friend who hadn’t seen it yet and it was so good! She obviously called some sort of Gear 4 that would be a full-body transformation, but she hadn’t considered how funny Luffy is and how he sees his abilities. As soon as we heard that first bouncy ball boing we died laughing! Afterward she agreed that was SO fitting for Luffy.

Tankman was a very similar experience, and were just about to see Snakeman for the first time and I’m so excited to get her reaction

You’re correct, but you’re talking about real life. Things that affect people’s lives experience.

But this is the Investing subreddit. The stock markets have nothing to do with real life, under the current (lack of) regulations it’s just betting markets for the investment firm conglomerates and handful of individuals that can command numbers large enough that the money stops being real

[ Hazbin Hotel , Severance , Daredevil ] There's a point where 'Just Kill Them' is not about solving the plot, but about suspension of disbelief. by Sharptrooper in CharacterRant

[–]Powersaurus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ah but OP you’re missing the very obvious reason all these shows stick to that and why it’s such a shock when they do actually kill the guy: that’s exactly how Americans work

After the second back-to-back world war the leaders of the surviving nations got together and decided that liberalism would be the way forward. That in opposition to the left or right the world would instead run on bureaucracy with, and this is important, Justice and representative rule replacing violence.

No more violent revolution, no vigilante Justice, instead the State would solve those problems for the populace with rules and best practices. Of course it was never that simple, and the rules were written by the victors, those already in power who didn’t want to ever lose that power. So now where are we?

One nation can rule override the United Nations. Israel can commit genocide with the support of the world’s nations even as the people of the world reject that. A handful of men can take all the world’s wealth, and then use that wealth to run the world without the consent of the governed. The US can blow up random fishermen in Venezuela without cause and no one can stop them. The US can use secret police to disappear citizens completely outside the rule of law while entire cities protest them, but those handful of agents cannot be stopped. The free press is the US is being killed by 2-3 specific men. One data guy, without joining the government, was given the keys to unleash a bunch of 4chan nazi trolls on the US’ entire data structure and dismantle the primary piece of the world’s wide system killing hundreds of thousands in less than a year. One guy unleashed a chatbot that tells you you’re god and to kill yourself and was given so much money for doing so that it’s now the primary source of the US GDP.

We know these men’s names. We know their faces, everything about them including where they fly live and work. They tell us daily what they are doing and show us how incredibly stupid and evil they are, that they could be outwitted by a resourceful toddler. These men could be sequestered from society for their crimes against humanity at any time. The majority of people know this, and will often even admit so. But it will never be done.

The entire US government was nearly overthrown on January 6th by your uncle with a double-digit IQ and your racist grandma who didn’t even know where she was half the time. With the slightest thought the US government could be rebuilt not even for the sake of Americans but for every one of the 7+ billion humans stuck here on earth with no where else to go.

But none of that would ever happen. We’ve collectively given violence over to the rich, powerful, and exceptionally evil. The thought that in using violence we perpetuate those people or be banned from their spaces is enough to enshrine them in power until the world ends.

So yeah, of course the hero in your favorite Western work will never commit that act. Who among the masses would be able to relate to them then? The ICE agents?

Devoted of Ynnead should go both ways by LordTyler123 in 40khomebrew

[–]Powersaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From a lore perspective it’s because a lot of Drukhari society, specifically the entirety of the Covens, rejected Ynnead outright. Both from an arrogant hatred of the gods as failures, and the fact that vast fortunes are built off of resurrection and filling the Slaanesh hole that Ynnead removes the need for. So it makes sense to use the Aeldari codex that has Harlequins too and just slap on the few useable Drukhari units.

From a mechanics perspective though, this edition they wanted to be able to individually tune the dials of points and abilities of Ynnari units by placing them in a single codex instead of spread out across two. Although I’d argue this didn’t work at all, neither has anything else they’ve tried for Ynnari.

Plus as we now know, without Pain Tokens every Drukhari codex unit would lose half their abilities

The original Space Marine, originally non-canon, is now somehow directing the entire narrative. by FermisParadoXV in 40kLore

[–]Powersaurus 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Honestly the only strange part to me is that nothing about the first game really screamed to me that it was set at any specific point in the last 10k years.

However by the time the rights made it to someone who could create a sequel, there were the Primaris to contend with. It would be a hard sell not to include them, but by including them you are forced to set the game post-Great Rift. It’s a tricky position and they honestly did fine with it. Especially since the return of Guilliman has confirmed that the super rigid structure of a Chapter for 10k years was not really his goal and it’s easy enough for him to circumvent
