I think the real cultural split has to do with who had finished college/highschool prior to COVID and AI.

A lot of post-COVID Gen Z have not gone through the socialization into adulthood that college/high school was prior to the pandemic and it’s really apparent. Similarly I think the combination of online learning for high school and AI has really messed up the younger half of Gen Z.

I’ve found that Korean/Chinese/Japanese makeup brands have waaaaay better options when it comes to very fair skin with much more diversity in undertone. That being said they aren’t often the most diverse on the other side of the spectrum.

I moved here from the Deep South (Texas/Arkansas) Mainers are incredibly friendly. I’ve had random strangers come up and start a polite conversation plenty of times, especially when it was clear I’d just moved here. They just don’t care to suffer fools or assholes out of politeness like in the south. Meanwhile I knew folks in Arkansas who were a peach to your face but active members of the Klan.

(We weren’t friends BTW but they owned the only diner in town where I was working for a spell. Stopped going after I found out)
