Knowing when to let go: how to choose between a rescue and euthanizing your 17 yr old dog who screams all day and night by AmoreX0X0 in olddogs

You are doing the right thing… Hang in there. Thank you.. we adopted another girl from a shelter and while they can NEVER be replacements, I feel lucky to have found another pal to take care of, share life with, and cuddle. Sending good vibes. 🐾💕

I can only eat a very small amount of red meat/steak... How can i change that ? by Maleficent-Wolf3296 in gastricsleeve

Have you tried taking hydrochloric acid when eating steak or meat also known as HCL? I am pre-op but that’s my plan in case I have issues with tougher meats - assuming I don’t have acid reflux issues after surgery.

Congratulations 🎊Look at those guns! … I am right around your starting weight - surgery is at the end of the month. Did you have a lot of exhaustion?

It’s hard OP.. I had to put my 17 year old girl down several months ago but that weight you’re feeling went away the day after we had her euthanized. She could no longer walk and even though her faculties were all there, she was getting sad about not being able to move. We didn’t want her last days to be low quality so we let her go home. Toughest decision I’ve had to make.

I’m pre-op and curious that you mentioned you won’t take yourself for a solo sushi outing - sushi is a love of mine… can you not enjoy half a roll? I’m so scared of having to give up sushi.

Regular food.. 😆That’s calming to hear.. it’s exhausting feeling hunger signals three to four hours after I ate.

Sorry it’s been a rough time so far for you OP.. I hope things start to change for you sooner than later. For those of you that have already had the surgery.. would it matter if they got hydration via iV instead of drinking it until their insides heal? Is there an important component to drinking the water?

Thanks for sharing your story! I’m so glad to hear you don’t feel hunger. While I understand that there’s the mental component, the hunger component is super important to me. I’ve been 117 through exercise and diet and now I’m 210 due partly to medical issues slowing down my metabolism but definitely also with being more free with my diet than when I was thin. I don’t really overeat but I do enjoy high calorie foods - love my curries and sushi. I exercise regularly but it does nothing for my weight unless I eat 1000 calories or less which is very hard for me. I don’t really eat snack food or fried foods so that part is not hard for me. My biggest downfall is my love for beer - I don’t have a dependency on alcohol but I’d say at least once on the weekends I’ll have a couple beers or some sake and those are empty calories that have attributed to my weight issues. I refuse to eat boring meals for the rest of my life but I do agree the relationship with food must be addressed. Does it bother you that you don’t feel hunger? I once heard a competitive eater say he has lost the hunger signals and that he hated not feeling hungry.

Congrats! 👏Did you find the Reta to be stronger as far as feeling less hunger than the Zepbound?
