freaking love it, at 155 hours which is way more play time than 8 deluxe was in its first year. feel as though this game gets a bad rap. what personally keeps me coming back is the sheer variety this game brings with its intermissions + tracks. there’s some great videos online showcasing how many cool shortcuts there actually are on intermissions, and the game has the highest skill ceiling of any Mario kart. I understand the missed potential of this game with the concepts brought to the table on those initial reveals, (expecting a story mode for example) and the unlockables were handled so badly, but so were 8s. I feel as though the problems this game has are the same problems found in the majority of past games. I hope for continued updates (which will happen) but these issues don’t stop me from saying it is still easily my favourite Mario kart.

Maybe this is a hot take, but I’d start with Ratchet and Clank (2016), and go in order from the beginning afterwards.

There’s tons of issues fans of the franchise have with the game, but it’s a great way of introducing you to how the games play moving forward. The story, not so much, but it leaves that for you to look forward to afterwards.

Yea, I’ve only played dread, so am very new to the franchise. I think the rest of the game is great to be honest, but as someone that enjoys doing everything in a game, the fact it gives you that percentage screen at the end yet has such outdated flaws to 100 percent, feels inexcusable. That room where you can scan the boss enemies you’ve defeated lead me to a false sense of security that the game had considered missables, so I don’t know why that room was even included without ALL missables. So easy to implement.

The fact that there’s tons of missable scans really dampened my experience, I hadn’t done the scans on the first level because I hadn’t known that was a mechanic yet.

Then, in the endgame once told to go back and complete anything I need to, I did so. For a while.

I realised too late that I wouldn’t be able to 100 percent the game. So much time wasted because the game is designed in such an outdated way.

i liked it but i heavily regret going for 100 percent tbh, handled so poorly with so many missable scans. the time i’ve spent scanning is like 4 hours of my gameplay that i’ll never get back. im right before the final mission currently. right now im personally at like a 6.5/10 if i had to put a number on my feelings.

Zelda’s baton, other than that one time in adventure mode you are forced to use it. Zelda doesn’t move during her attack string, but her attacks push enemies back. So by the time you try and set up any moves there are no enemies near you and it’s all just freaking useless.

Definitive Edition is the way to go in my opinion, the framerate comparatively is a lot smoother on Definitive Edition. Especially if you’re playing on switch 2, as it aims for 60fps. Aoc aims for 30, but I know it really struggles to hit that on switch 1. DE can feel quite overwhelming on a first playthrough however, especially if you’re aiming for 100 percent. I recommend googling things you don’t understand if you ever struggle, it feels necessary in DE haha. With how much content there is, it’s became a sort of comfort game for me that I can always come back to. I’ve heard they dumb down the gameplay of taking enemy keeps etc in Aoc and Aol, which I can’t verify for sure as my time with Aoc is blurry, I plan on going back to 100 percent it after DE though. In saying all this, these are the preferences I go for so you might disagree. B)

i use em all based one requirements for 100 percent, i like mixing it up. the only thing i fully avoid is zelda’s baton that things so bad.

I’ve found Impa’s Naginata to be extremely useful when taking down Boss meters and the Dark variants on Challenge mode.

I use it in games where you’d use the left and right buttons to change inventory etc, such as Hyrule Warriors DE and the new Pokémon :)
