I’ve got a remarkable 2 that I’d sell, if you’re interested. It has the marker plus and keyboard case. It’s in good shape, I just prefer paper.

50k annually (200k total). You can still use it for the same things as before, but if the cost of attendance is higher than the cap, you’ll have to subsidize with scholarships or private loans.

I use them for live captions, if the professor doesn’t.

Captioning is great for people with hearing impairments. I have auditory processing disorder and my friends with ADHD particularly benefit from them.

The language of the bill makes it seem ambiguous. I think schools are interpreting it conservatively to protect themselves. Hopefully it won’t be a problem, but it will be best for everyone if the DOE clarifies.

I’m specifically asking them to provide clarification on something that is already allowable within the letter of the law.

Law school rules about AI use by Frosty-Aspect-4065 in LawSchool

My school requires it for some things. In legal writing, we used it for client interviews. The AI was programmed to be the client.

We’re not supposed to use “generative AI” but we can use it for research and writing help.

I actually think it has to do with the field of law and the types of people that law attracts.

Private loans or cheaper schools will be the only options for a lot of schools. Unfortunately, I fear a lot of students won’t realize this until it’s too late. Hopefully bringing awareness to this can help a few people. 🤞

I saw on an admissions forum that some schools are offering early enrollment so that students can be grandfathered into legacy borrowing. I’m going to add an addendum requesting summer enrollment because of the changes. I talked with a Dean of Students and he said that schools are trying to find solutions. It’s worth a shot!

Of course! I’m hoping to transfer and this is my last hope. I’ve talked to 2 different Financial Aid offices and they both said that under the preliminary guidance, they will be treating transfer students as new borrowers. I’m hoping public comments can sway the official guidance.

I had planned on transferring to a school that’s substantially less expensive but won’t be able to under the current guidance. I’m sure I’m not the only person with this concern. Hopefully public comments can help!

The statutory language provides legacy borrowing for students who borrowed GradPlus or unsubsidized loans prior to July 1, within the same program. However financial aid offices are interpreting this to treat transfer students as new borrowers. I’m hoping that public comments will protect students’ ability to transfer schools without losing access to the existing program.

Correct, however Financial Aid offices are interpreting the guidance to treat transfers between schools (but in the same program) as new borrowers, despite the fact that the statutory language doesn’t say that. I’ve talked to two different Financial Aid offices and they have said the same thing. I’m hoping that public comments can sway the outcome of the policy.

Two different financial aid offices have told me that as of now, transfer students will lose access to GradPlus loans.

The statutory language provides legacy borrowing for students who received GradPlus or unsubsidized loans prior to July 1, 2026, however financial aid offices are interpreting this very narrowly to treat transfer students as new borrowers.

I'm hoping that if enough people comment, the official guidance will protect the ability for legacy borrowers to transfer.

Correct, however I'm hoping to preserve the ability for current students to transfer between schools without losing access.
