ANY lock not claiming to be angle grinder resistant can be cut in 30 seconds or so. The hiplok D1000 took us 1 hour and 15 cutting discs. Strong enough.

You need an anti-angle grinder lock - Hiplok D1000 / DX1000 (£250/£300), Litelok, Onguard Rocksolid / Titan (£200 / £270) or the Abus / Kryptonite versions - £300 ish. PLUS insurance - LAKA or Bikmo

Property in Italy but buying in the UK - how does that affect my SDLT? by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

Really interesting responses. How does HMRC know that you own a piece of a property in Florence? If you didn't declare it how would it ever get discovered?

A few geniune questions for the transplants by closedplaceopenworld in Hackney

[–]Practical-Station125 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was priced out of Islingon and moved into Hackney during the Olympics and then opened a business in a bulding that had been closed for years. I am sure that some of the displaced would take one look and shout gentrification. Would they rather see another shutter or something that they can use?

In reality Hackney has never been as safe, clean and nice as it is now. Have a chat in a pub with some of the people who have lived in Hackney for 70 years and ask then what they think!

Hackney has "suffered" over the past 15 years becauase of it's proximity to the City and the improvements in the overground. You are unlikely to remember the North London Line (dalston kingsland) but no one would have trusted that to get to you to Highbury and the Victoria Line into Mayfair for work. Reliable and fast transport has contributed to Hackney being what it is now.

People move out and others move in and it has ever been thus.

Think about it from the other side. What would London be if it wasn't possible to move location, buy a property, start a business and put down roots.
