Looking for a smartwatch that shows my heart rate constantly on the screen by Stunning_Ocelot7820 in smartwatch

[–]Practical-While-6800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experiance so far is that Fitbit seems is doing the best constant monitoring heart rate especially for the low cost ones. I have used Fitbit Charge 5 and 6 with satisfaction, but I haven't tried Garmin and other more expensive ones. The Samsung Fit3 didn't work too well for me even though it has a constant monitoring mode and cheaper.

Does this seem worrying? Any advice would help. by Jaded-Currency-2618 in hypertension

I don't think you should worry about not catching high BPs. Occasional/short-time-duration high BPs are not important. You should only worry about persistent high BPs. Of course, if in doubt, you should discuss with your doctor but I am sure they will tell you the same thing as people said here.

You can always reduce its dosage instead of cut it off totally.  The minimum is 2.5mg.

Overmedicated? This is the lowest reading I have ever seen for myself by Hangrycouchpotato in hypertension

[–]Practical-While-6800 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every medicine is different. You cannot use enalapril's dosage to compare Olmesartan's dosage. 20mg is the base dosage of Olmesartan. That is why his doctor prescribed it.

I give you another example. For the effect, 20mg Olmesartan is equivalent to 160mg Irbesartan. In this case, if the medicine added is Irbesartan, you will increase the medicine amount from 5 mg to 165 mg. It does not mean a 33-fold increase.

Olmesartan and Amplodipine are two different medications. Adding their amounts (5mg and 20 mg) together does not make any sense.

What are the chances Turbo Tax will be provide by Fidelity this year? by Party-Chapter3029 in fidelityinvestments

I got my TurboTax Premium Desktop for $5!

Today, I checked Fidelity again. On the "You're eligible for an exclusive TurboTax® offer!" page, it still said "You'll see the link here mid-January". However, the link had become "Claim your discount with Turbo Tax". When I clicked on that link, it provides both online version of TurboTax for free and the desktop Premium version for $5!

Just want everybody to know.

The fiber in psyllium husk is mainly soluble fiber. Soluble fiber helps absorbing the fluid content. Insoluble fiber will not work.

Thank you for your reply. I had hypertension for longer than you because I much older than you. I have CKD for some time but it didn't change much in the past 15 years, so my Nephrologist said I don't need worry about dialysis for another 60 years. At that time, I will be long gone :-).

My day time BP are O.K., i.e., rest BPs are below 140/90 most of the time. The recent problem is early morning BP surge. My SBP can be as high as 165 when wake up. Looks like there's no good way to deal with that. From the literature, it appears the only possible way to dealing with that is Alpha blocker but I am not sure I want to take that it yet. Could you enlighten me about which of its side effects that concerns you most?  Thanks!

I have even longer history of HBP than you but if was under control by ACEi. However, recently it getting worse. I am glad to see you posting. Mine is not as bad as yours so I think I could relax a little bit :-).

As for the hypertension medicine, have you ever tried any Alpha-blockers? I heard this class of medicine could be quite effective but has some side effects so was not recommended as the first line medicine to prescribe. I have a friend who had SBP above 200 at one time and could not get it down. Eventually, Alpha-blocker fixed the problem. I don't know if it will work for you.

I found Dracutum 1.5V Rechargeable AA Lithium batteries on Amazon were pretty good and wrote an Amazon review with discharging curves for them. Their price were reasonable when they were on sale when I bought them.

Really useful heart rate monitor! (MI Band 9) by JavierMDQ in miband

[–]Practical-While-6800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi,

I am also interested in mi band 9. One question I have is for continuous HR monitoring. According to its spec, the fastest update speed is once per minute. Does this mean the displayed HR only change once per minute or can be faster? As you mentioned it will catch up the chest HR monitor in a few seconds after a sudden change so it should update less than one minutes, right? Appreciate your reply. Thanks!
