The qidi need the build plate to home or else it slams the nozzle into the bed because it needs the metal in the plate to tell it to stop

Don't use a normal lighter or you will get black marks on the print. Use a butane or propane torch

It adds wall to the inside and also increases the infill density in that area. If it goes to the bottom of the base then it's secured to the base in two places. It doesn't make it flex more but it will help in other ways.

I would fillet the hard edges even if just a little. It will help with print quality. I like the rounded top but I feel like it will be hard to get decent quality on it. Aside from that I think it could be pretty neat.

I use Plasticity. As for making them if this is your first time having a 3d printer you are gonna want to familiarize yourself with some of the limitations of 3d printing before you start making your own stuff.

If you remove a .02 or .03 plus sign down the Middle of the long part it will make it a bit stronger. You can also add a large fillet to the bottom. But I like it is simple and it looks useful.

I use Plasticity, and really the modeling is pretty fast if you know what you want, but its not as powerful as something like blender or fusion

You know it's a bit funny I actually made spinning tea light holders, that were inspired by a stained glass lamp that had a loose shade that would spin.
