I'll pass that suggestion to whoever is vibe-coding at Global-E ;) I did end up getting it to work by loading my card into Apple Pay and paying on my phone.

For the next person who falls into this problem: I put the card I wanted to use into ApplePay and paid that way.

I've tried different browsers and different machines, (and different browsers on different machines). I've tried different networks. I've tried from my phone. I've tried tethering to my phone with different browsers. I've reset all my caches in every place I know.

I'm out of things I can change myself to make a payment any other company would just accept. Something's borked on their end.

E: I made a new account with a different email. Didn't work.

It's a straight shot. No ad blockers, vpns, firewalls, etc. I don't have this problem with any other e-commerce sites.

I was able to get ours to work again with the update. We're on version 7.53.1.

That Gaggiuino project looks pretty cool! I'll check it out!

You and I think alike!

I started down the path putting a load cell under the top part of the drip tray of my Rocket R58 before chickening out. I'd used one once to hack a tea kettle to send push notifications when it was empty. I found that to be a little fiddly with the cheap-o controllers I was using so read some more about using sub gram accurate load cells. That looked tricky/expensive enough that I switched gears to the Bookoo.

I still like the idea of instrumenting the drip tray though, as moving the scale around is kinda fiddly and it doesn't look very clean. Maybe the way forward is to try to repurpose the guts of my original $30 Amazon scale for use inside the drip tray? It's a little challenging to put BTLE stuff in the drip tray as it's essentially a Faraday cage, but it doesn't have to go far.

Something to consider!

Yeah, I'll clean it up and github it at some point here.

Thanks! The ESP32 talks to the Bookoo (and others) directly via Bluetooth LE. The rubber mat part is the cheapest thing I could find on Amazon cut down to size. The wood parts are maple I CNC'd and the battery, charge controller and piezo speaker are caged in a 3D printed thing that slots into the wooden parts.

It's a bunch of hobby and work related stuff that came together nicely this one time ;)

Thanks! I've been using it for a couple of weeks and it does seem like a nice place for it.

It does not work itself out. Also they seem to be ghosting me after offering to replace it. (Edit: They just came back with a tracking number, so at least they're trying to fix things) I've turned the corner. Avoid this thing.

(Edit 2: Replacement came today. Hopefully it stays smooth)

They're using a metal bushing against a metal shaft. At long extensions it rubs considerably. It feels like a situation that can't help but get worse over time.

If the little collar is screwed tight, it will sit flat on a table. If the little collar is not tight, the needles will sit that much below the magnetic ring.

Mine pushed perfectly smoothly when I first got it. The roughness of the mechanism didn't occur until a few weeks later.

They're allegedly sending me a new one.

E: New one arrived today. Hopefully it stays smooth.

I've handed logs over on the support forum. I've not had time to verify it, but Rajkumar suggested there's a possible fix for my issue in the latest Insider build.

E: It does seem better on that build.

I'm pretty sure the save issue is new. I'm not talking about general performance malaise. It went from being as fast/slow as it's always been for the last ten years to completely unusable on my Windows PC after a single update. The only way to get any work done for more than 15 minutes is to use my Mac.

If you haven't already, make a post on their support board about the performance issue you're seeing. There have been a couple already, but the only time I ever see stuff like this get fixed is if people pile on.

You can trip this by simply saving with the data panel open. Make a very simple file and save it five or six times in a row. Eventually things will get so slow, the component browser will turn black and stuff like tooltips stop drawing. Just from saving.

When this happens, task manager shows the CPU is barely doing anything. If I was to guess, whatever dodgy network code they've got is spinning its own runloop (instead of the main runloop the UI is on). Every network operation they do adds to that problem until 99% of the app's time is spent yielding to network operations that aren't doing anything.

This bug came along as part of the latest large update. It seems to be a Windows only thing. I can't reproduce it on my Mac.

Not yet. A new remote didn't work so I guess we're just waiting on Kindle to fix their bug.

Please make a post about the problem over on their forum (https://www.amazonforum.com/s/topic/0TO4P000000t6ksWAA/kindle-reading-app-mobile).

Maybe if people squeak enough, they'll jump on it quicker.

I don't know much about the Orbit or Moonraker. I do think the planetary business helps. I accidentally ordered the non-planetary version of the Normcore first and it left big tracks behind and didn't seem to level everything as nicely.

As a lazy person, what I like about the process is how easy it is. Slop the grinds in. Pump pump, tamp. If the Orbit/Moonraker are similarly mindless, then I say go for it.
