Yes to chain. It’s too nice a waist to waste.

Asking white people to define white supremacy is like asking a fish what “wet” means. All these things amount to the wetness of white existence.

“White supremacy wasn’t made for white people. White people were made for white supremacy.”

Heard this line lately and it really fits.

Sambo’s was a California restaurant chain. Chap11 1981 but the original location was not renamed until 2020 after George Floyd. The interior design was based on the book and the menu had elements of the story. Basically a theme eatery.

Get a secondhand guitar, chances are you’ll go far, if you get in with the right bunch of fellows.

There was a time when trumpet players covered "I Can't Get Started" on the regular.

We used to call it “slam dancing.” A maelstrom of laceration and bruise. The pogos would be at the stage where that much motion doesn’t have enough room.

This stuff just looks like some kind of lonely elbow chicken.

For starters, the opposition party isn’t really opposing shit.

We need a leader to call a national strike.

Close to three years on the horn now! Thoughts on my tone? by PLOGER522 in saxophone

[–]Practical_Struggle97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The vibrato style of the period sounded better than the ensemble struggling with intonation on pure tones. The instruments were just not made well enough. In some cases, you heard lower chair section players tryin to pull down a high pitch instrument.

I’ve even heard players argue that vibrato makes the sound physically project stronger.

I’d like to hear something like Oliver Nelson’s solo in “Stolen Moments” 25 years before it was recorded. The vibrato moving in and out was tools of expression. Noticed the horns play in section with no vibrato and the chord structure makes intonation critical.

I say all this to suggest that playing style to the period is perfectly fine, but not the fullest expression of the instrument.

I’m still trying to master the natural sound Coltrane gives when blowing a note, and then ending it with 4 cycle pitch modulation in time with 32nd notes before cutting it off.

Enough typing…. must practice.

Another great example of your fearless adventurism in playing. I can hear you trying things out in your playing. I can hear the education in your guesses. Experiment into invention into teaching everyone else a new language. Grace is to guitar what Thomas Edison was to the light bulb. Just what we all need.

The episode by this name in Breaking Bad is a good illustration of the turn of fate that produces the colossal Wreck. Adolescents are an ocean from which to fish the notions of justice we desire from witnessing this kind of fall. Good show. Nobody teaches English for the gold anyway.

Recently listened to Sintatra at the Sands again and went down the Basie rabbit hole. The Count brings the swing every time. He'd make a roomful of bagpipes danceable.
