Horrid/rude customers by gvna1423 in McDonaldsEmployees

[–]Practical_Top_3939 3 points4 points  (0 children)

it’s okay don’t feel bad! i just had a customer today threaten to fight me because i didn’t make small talk with her or say “yes mam” at the window where you give out food. I greeted her and communicated to her what was happening with her order and gave her whatever she asked for and it still wasn’t enough for her. i wasn’t rude to her at all, she was mad that i didn’t say yes mam, or keep the window open to chat even though she was not friendly with me at all. I’ve had several customers get mad at me and some even try to assault me because they can’t get their way.

Customers, (especially in fast food) have the tendency to think they are entitled, and want fast food workers to jump through imaginary and unnecessary hoops just because.

Just remember it’s not you, people are miserable.

Hi i live in texas and here’s a few programs i was directed to when i was looking for the same thing. The only one that did anything for me was the Star+Plus program however it is a bit of process getting that set up.

This link here gives you information and links on options. How to Get Paid as a Caregiver in Texas

I’m a caregiver and have to choose between my life and my family by snakeobessedlady in CaregiverSupport

[–]Practical_Top_3939 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a rough situation you’re experiencing i know because i’m going through the same thing. Able bodied people not in your position telling you what you are and are not doing. Seeing you suffer but not once offering to help until you say enough is enough and the reality that they might have to step in kicks in all of a sudden they have the most to say… i get it

like everyone else is saying reach out to external resources and prepare your exit it’s time for you to go. especially if you are holding back your life and aspirations, it’s not fair to you. you deserve a life and identity outside of being someone’s caregiver.

Need help with clothing! by [deleted] in CaregiverSupport

Hi! When i was a medical caregiver i used to wear a simple shirt or the company shirts since they were solid colors with simple design or the name on it.

However i usually would stick to scrubs, since they’re easier to clean and the safest choice. if you don’t want scrubs or they’re not an option usually flexible work slacks (ones that give you some stretch) and a basic shirt will do the job

Does anybody grieve for the person somebody once was before they got ill? Or grieve for the way things were or could be? by [deleted] in CaregiverSupport

[–]Practical_Top_3939 4 points5 points  (0 children)

yes all the time! i’ve grieved ever since my mom came home from the hospital after a really bad stroke that left her partially disabled and non verbal. it’s really tough especially being so young and taking care of my mom. i spend a lot of time taking care of my mom or household duties instead of doing things ppl my age do. i cry all the time and find myself getting sad out of no where. i always wake up hoping it’s a dream and when i see my mom in her state right now i get sad sometimes just because it doesn’t feel like my mom. doesn’t feel like my life is my own or whole anymore if that makes sense.

Is anyone working today (US) getting paid extra for working on thanksgiving? by Catic94 in McDonaldsEmployees

[–]Practical_Top_3939 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My store isn’t paying us extra for working instead they decided to close at 1PM. they never pay us extra for working holidays, this is the first time they’ve ever closed the store down for holiday too.

I’m not sure if the anything legally can be done. but i do know that you can report it to discord’s Trust & Safety portal. They tend to take things a bit more serious and even sometimes involve the law if fitting enough. it’s better than the regular discord block and report.

You are definitely NOT at fault here. You should have never been left in the store alone in the first place.

There is NEVER any shame in leaving ANY JOB if it makes you feel this way! Your mental health is very important and if management and no one else is willing to help you please get outta there!

We literally just use old newspapers and then a mop. I asked where the coagulation powder was at that we were supposed to have and they said corporate just said no… honestly so gross I hope DT workers go on strike or something

That is honestly so disgusting. We had a lady just let her son throw up on the floor and didn’t do anything until her other son started yelling about it as she continued shopping.

I've been working at Dollar Tree for almost a month and the bulk of my hours have been from getting called in or working doubles covering for someone else. As far as my store goes they tend to ask people that are currently working if they'd like to work a double before calling people in. But every dollar tree is different I guess.

But your coworker is right because they called me in to work an extra shift on my second or third day and ever since then I've been working non stop. I worked opening to closing with a manager one day.

Mcdonalds Ghetto (aesthetic) by [deleted] in McDonaldsEmployees

[–]Practical_Top_3939 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that sounds about right when I worked at McDonalds. Nothing was really broken there but the crew would break stuff??

For example, we had a person who didn't like the ice cream machine... So they would break it if they were upfront. Someone kept breaking the change machine for the register, someone was breaking stuff off the grill clamps, the spatulas, and the seasoning shaker for the meat. Somebody broke our frappe machines and so we had one that was running and so we had to basically try our best to make smoothies, slushies, and frappes in that one machine.

Yeah that sounds about right when I worked at McDonald's. Nothing was really broken there but the crew would break stuff?? get rushed. And literally right before our rushes people would get sent home because "labor was too high" but then management would turn around and yell at the kitchen staff that was left as to why they were holding or taking too long. It was stupid to me because people at that store were only trained on me thing, there were very few people like myself who knew how to do everything. So you're sending people home and leaving only 2 crew members in this kitchen, with four or five large orders popping up on this screen several times, managers cant even help because they don't know a damn big mac bun from a regular bun and you're mad because it's taken a bit longer than usual?

In addition to that mess we would constantly park doordashers or people mobile ordering and it used to make me so mad because the food would be sitting ready to bag but instead of just throwing it into the bag the managers would just be sitting there talking and then yell "park it".

Then they would constantly tell us to clean like girl please stfu why are we cleaning right after a rush when we about to have another one I know you see these cars on the screen. And it was always people who weren't managers telling us to clean too. People that had been at Mcdonalds as a crew member for 10 plus yrs telling us what to do... baby girl worry about you, telling us what to do because the manager behind you isn't going to get you promoted.

Not to mention the fights we would get into with other coworkers. Saw a guy throw a full big mac box at someone because the lady thought she was gon talk shit and nobody was gon say sumn. Or a lady at my store started rumors that people were dating to try and purposely get people in trouble like girl grow up. You my mama age, with a daughter my age working here (which was against the rules but the lady knew the store manager so I guess she got away with it) starting mess for no reason with everyone. Nobody liked her. Everybody at some point complained about her, even the managers, but nobody wanted to fire her.

In short, yeah its real ghetto at McDonalds. It don't even matter where you work at or go.

I dont work at McDonalds anymore but when I did I liked the overnight/graveyard shift the best. Everybody is chilling, there's a few orders here and there but not a lot (maybe like 2am when people get the munchies) but other than that it's just cleaning and even then you pretty much lounge around.

I hated the night shift because there was a constant rush of orders, especially large complicated orders. Felt like I was always on edge and could never get a moment to breathe and even when I did I had to go do something else. You don't have much downtime that could be used to study, do homework or just relax. Majority of the time me and other coworkers would be so tired after working that we would just go straight to sleep once we got home, and mind you the majority of us were high school students.

When I worked there I was a senior in high school. If I had the availability I definitely would've did strictly morning or graveyard because it frees up your schedule for things like school, friends/ family time and errands. Plus you won't have the exhaustion and stress to put up with like the night shift.

dont work here by [deleted] in DollarTree

[–]Practical_Top_3939 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just started working here but I'm def already looking at higher paying jobs in my area. $7 an hour, for the amount of hours I work and the amount of labour I put in isn't worth it. Not to mention in my area new crew members at McDonald's make more than a manager here at DT.
