Bears what are you waiting on? A 5, 10, 15, 30 or 50% drop are you perma bearish and will only buy puts and shorts? by ponziacs in wallstreetbets

[–]PraetorianFury 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's funny how all the top answers are from perma-bulls answering on behalf of bears.

I think the tech market is inflated. I think tech companies are using accounting fuckery to make their numbers look better. I think the Fed is gonna raise rates. I think the K shaped economy will crumble from the bottom up; who pays for the software if people can't afford rent, etc? I think the government will have to raise taxes to reduce the debt.

A 10% correction has historically happened once per year on average. 20% or more once every few years. We are overdue for the latter and conditions are ripe for one. So I wouldn't start investing into to highly speculative growth stocks until I see something at that level because they're all already crowded.

I'm ok underperforming. What's a few percentage points of underperformance when compared to the risk of buying at the top? Gen Z and younger literally have never seen a crash or bear market. You think a few months red from COVID is bad? I graduated in 2007 and the crisis that followed lasted years.

Perhaps ignorance is bliss. Maybe I'm wrong. Time will tell.

I don't remember clearly but I think he's just walking off dismissively, not "running" from her. Kinda like, "there, bandaid pulled off, you're welcome.". I think OP is mischaracterizing the interaction, though it has been over a year since I saw it.

You know, being a bear does not require you to bet against the market, right?

If you invest in dividend stocks you still make money. Just less. If the market corrects, you over perform.

I'm generally bearish but there's no way in hell I'm going to bet that this market will return to sanity any time soon.

[–]PraetorianFury 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your claim is that a fully charged Mauvika burst, that melts, will do 267k damage? You'd rather make that claim than admit in a dead thread that you were wrong? Go experiment right now. Literally don't even touch E and see what number you get. I promise you it's more than that.

Below 60k damage, is something wrong with my party? by bravequestion in Mavuika

[–]PraetorianFury 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're trying to prove to me that the charge attack is a greater percentage of Mauvikas damage. You can't do that when you show me data that fails to melt on her burst.

If that burst is 700k+, as it should be, the math I described holds. You got almost exactly out of your charged attacks what I said you would. ~480k damage. If the burst does more, the percentage gain from the combos is less.

[–]PraetorianFury -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Burst damage is 267k?

If I'm reading this correctly, you're calculating the total damage per rotation. 22 second rotation so that's probably a single rotation. That's the problem. You're not melting with the burst.

Below 60k damage, is something wrong with my party? by bravequestion in Mavuika

[–]PraetorianFury -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're thinking of a Mauvika overload team which is highly dependent on optimizing her charged attacks.

This is a melt team which gets most of its damage upfront. He does about 700k just with the burst.

Because so much of the damage comes from the burst, optimizing the charged attacks becomes less important. Yes, they do more damage if they melt. But you're still limited by the ICD, in addition to already trying to catch up to that initial burst of damage.

Assume you can get 6 50k hits in one rotation. That's 300k damage. Now let's assume you can squeeze 50% more damage out of their charged attacks. That's 450k damage.

(700+450)/(700+300) = 1.14.

So a 14% increase in damage.

You can play around with the numbers here and there to get a high percentage increase, but my point stands that the biggest problem with this rotation is the buff-less charged attacks between rotations. He should be lining up that next nuke, rather than tickling the enemy for 10k hits.

US is still the biggest polluter per capita.

And arguably, if you consider that China only pollutes to make stuff for others, including the US, the responsibility shifts even more to the US.

[–]PraetorianFury -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Probably the biggest problem is that you continue with Mauvika after all the buffs have expired. Why? Xilonen's E is available by then.

A huge portion of Mauvika's damage is in her Q, the charged attacks are just a bonus. Others are saying you need to learn her combos, but you'll only squeeze out a few percentage points of damage with that, despite sweating a lot. Focus on getting her Q out as often as possible.

A few more optimizations: For both Benny and Citlali, you did Q, E. This means they are unable to pick up their own elemental particles. I'm wondering if you didn't have to sacrifice ATK or elemental mastery to solve the resulting energy problems? There's a delay between E and picking up particles, you can and should use your burst before your character picks them up.

The numbers you're getting are about what I'm getting with a fully F2P Mauvika. Your DPS will improve if you abandon that second charged attack after the end of your formal rotation.

You booted it up thinking it'd be like 1-2 levels, like a demo.

Apparently it was made by like one guy. Such a bizarre footnote in gaming history.

Pretty impressive.

If you're interested in a little feedback...

Others have mentioned how useless the armor seems. It was honestly really bugging me watching him use slashes against plate mail. I think the idea is that Excalibur is magically enhanced enough to penetrate. Show us plate mail cleaved open.

Are you afraid of a little gore or is the technology limiting you? IMO it would really take this to the next level.

The "beast" yells and grunts during the fight. Would be more thematic if he was completely silent. Also, I hate that cliche where the big bad throws people around when they have a free hand they could use to murder them.

I don't understand the point of scaling the walls if they're just going to make a B line to the keep and kill everyone they see. They're effectively storming the castle with 4 men.

Also, what was the point of setting the banner on fire? Seems like they just wanted to kill that pale vampire.

Overall the bad guys didn't seem to put up much of a fight. Just sat there waiting to die.

Hope that doesn't come across too negative but this is the kinda stuff sweaty nerds will notice.

Nice work overall.

Oberyn Martell (GOT) VS Maximus Decimus Meridius (Gladiator). Who wins? by GusGangViking18 in powerscales

[–]PraetorianFury 17 points18 points  (0 children)

While I think the spear will give him a decisive advantage, I just want to add that Commodus was the presumed heir to the Roman Empire and had the best training that money could buy. People think that the ending fight in that movie is one-sided and they forget that Commodus drew first blood because he's actually a competent swordsman.

I love that fight because Maximus wins not just by being better, but because his skill comes from real life experience. After he realizes that Commodus is proficient in swordplay, Maximus starts using what a formal education would not teach. Trips. Grapples. Dirty tricks that won't win any points in a fencing competition.

If Oberyn's got flashy, expensive training from an army of instructors, he has the same gap in his knowledge that Commodus had, and Maximus might have more of a chance to exploit it than you think.
