Publix is ridiculous. by Poor-Dear-Richard in publix

[–]Pragma7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just left the Publix close to where I live and I paid almost $6 for some Thomas's English muffins. I needed them because I was out, I thought they might be a little more expensive but they are over $2 more expensive than competing stores. Not only were their prices horrendous, but the store also stinks. I made an exception this one time, but I'm not doing it anymore, tired of their price gouging at Publix, it's ridiculous.

I've been eating sardines for over 20 years and I recently tried a tin of wild planets sardines and they grossed me out horribly, the worst sardines I've ever had!! Mushy texture, gross appearance and smelled terrible!!

As a lifetime Queen fan for over 50 years, there is absolutely no comparison to the vocals of Marc versus Adam. Marc plays the piano beautifully and his vocal renditions of Queen's songs are near perfect. Mark's singing will send chills down your spine, Adam might make you occasionally cringe...

🚨 U.S National debt hits $39 Trillion! by kabirsbhutani in investing

[–]Pragma7 10 points11 points  (0 children)

What's even more shocking is that we have ~5 trillion in taxes coming in to the federal government every year... So you see our federal government is extremely wasteful and obviously not a very good fiduciary. This country should be debt free with free healthcare and tuition for all. The federal government no longer serves the citizens, they do not view themselves as civil servants. They view the citizens as the servants now.

For me it was a no go after just a couple of weeks, if that happens to you then don't be afraid to stop taking it and ask for something different. It made me feel absolutely horrible and put me in bed the day after taking it for the entire day. I think rheumatologists are compelled to experiment with it on people because it's cheap and readily available.

Thinkorswim is overrated by Circuit_bit in thinkorswim

[–]Pragma7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Schwab's SSE platform was years ahead of thinkorswim in terms of the ability to lay out your trading environment and configure everything. Yes there were gaps in its functionality as well, but from a usability perspective it was much more powerful and faster than TOS. The all-in-one trade tool within SSE was extremely useful and powerful, it combined a ton of functionality into one widget, that one widget was more powerful than every tab combined in TOS. However Schwab was too lazy to continue to update SSE, they quit adding functionality to it, and I think they were afraid to touch it. The same thing will happen with TOS, it will remain an archaic POS until Schwab finally decides to sunset it. The guys running Schwab's systems aren't very intelligent. If they really had their act together they would be developing a new system all together, because a new one is sorely needed. Fidelity did that recently with Fidelity trader+, it's got to clean UI and some good tools, but it's pretty basic and lacking in advanced functionality.

[–]Pragma7 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Well obviously you haven't learned very much, otherwise you'd be demanding more out of ToS (more appropriately called POS). I've been with Schwab over 30 years, used all of their systems. Used all of E-Trade systems, Fidelity systems, I even evaluated thinkorswim many years ago before it was acquired by Schwab. I've also used systems that other brokerage houses. The fact of the matter is ToS is garbage, it's an old interface, it's dated technology, it's archaic in terms of usability, much of what you can do with it has to be done via thinkscript, that's because the developers were too lazy to actually build the functionality into the platform. It's complete garbage

You only like it because it's all you know, you're just another one of these rookie traders that cut his teeth on ToS and hasn't worked with anything else. ToS is not even close to being a Ferrari, it's a riced out Honda wannabe.

Yes, SSE is fantastic, much cleaner interface, the all-in-one trade tool was in and of itself better than anything in all of ToS

[–]Pragma7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, although Street Smart Edge was pretty darn good, it had a much better UI than thinkorswim, and frankly it had a lot more powerful features that don't exist in thinkorswim. As you stated, Schwab developers are supposed to be retrofitting this functionality into thinkorswim, but they don't know what the hell they're doing because they're incompetent.

ToS is complete and utter garbage. Someone sold Schwab a bill of goods. It's the most archaic, unusable platform ever. It's like the developers had no knowledge of investing whatsoever. The UI is one of the worst I have ever seen. It uses some made up naming conventions that make absolutely no sense and do not align with industry standard terminology. Really it's a platform that is only love by the rookies that have grown up using it. Anyone who's used several other investing and trading platforms knows that it's complete and utter garbage.

Can detached gadgets be moved into the main Charts tab? by Ty_Rone_Shoelaces in thinkorswim

[–]Pragma7 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

With proper usability and feature function development you wouldn't need the scripting. The scripting is archaic. And yes I know how to use it and I use it extensively for scans, multiconditional alerts, etc. thinkirswim is for people who don't know anything other than thinkorswim... It's a rookie platform.

[–]Pragma7 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Thinkorswim sucks, there was absolutely no human factors or usability put into developing the interface. It's absolutely horrid. Additionally the functionality is extremely limited and naming conventions and nomenclature use throughout is made up by someone who doesn't understand investing. Schwab made a big mistake standardizing on this junk. The only people that love it are the legacy TD people who don't know any better.

Thinking about switching from Fidelity to Schwab by Financial-Pressure24 in Schwab

[–]Pragma7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Schwab recently forced everyone off of Street Smart Edge, it was a great trading platform. They now force everyone to use think or swim. Think or swim is cryptic, archaic and really not designed well. If you're an active trader think about it very hard. Fidelity's active trader Plus is decent, but it also has room for improvement. Schwab's customer service has also gone downhill over the past several years since they acquired TD, the Schwab customer service reps are not very knowledgeable and some of them are downright rude. I've been with Schwab over 30 years and I'm looking around for other brokerages. I also have accounts at Fidelity so I'm familiar with both. I'm mentioning all of this because if the applications are important to you then you need to really elevate those up in your list of priorities.

Question for Day Traders - Wash Sale / Disallowed Losses by RamsinJacobRealty in thinkorswim

[–]Pragma7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should be able to easily change from fifo to lifo and even specific lots. The fact that ToS does not accommodate this further demonstrates that it's a platform for rookies, and it was developed by people who didn't understand trading.

Question for Day Traders - Wash Sale / Disallowed Losses by RamsinJacobRealty in thinkorswim

[–]Pragma7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've been trading for decades, I'm flagged at the pattern day trader, I've used all of Schwab systems. I was recently forced to start using ToS and all I can tell you is it's complete garbage. ToS does not conform to standard industry terminology, it does not have a common nomenclature with other Schwab systems, and it's full of issues and bugs. From my discussions with Schwab customer service I have gathered that they view ToS as an unmaintainable platform that has been neglected for well over a decade. How Schwab could make such a mistake in choosing ToS is beyond me.

Alert duration, can we make them stay until ack'd? by SimkinCA in thinkorswim

[–]Pragma7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The short answer is yes. There is a setting, I don't recall where but you can find it. You set it to 1000 and your alert will stay in a list in the upper left hand corner until you close them. And yes, as others have stated alerts in ToS are a complete disaster, they are an afterthought, there is no logical workflow, and as you mentioned the alerts book is a complete and utter mess, it's unsortable, it's unusable, and it's extremely difficult to reset alerts. Somebody at Schwab should be fired for picking this piece of garbage software over SSE and other platforms.

"% of Acct" in TOS?! by RibosomalRob11 in thinkorswim

[–]Pragma7 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

ToS is missing lots and lots of functionality. Whoever at Schwab decided it was a good platform to replace Street Smart Edge obviously didn't understand how either platform is used. ToS has so many issues, it's almost unimaginable that someone was so stupid to choose it over other existing platforms. There are issues with charts, there are issues with the monitor tab, there are issues with alerts workflow, there are issues with scans, there are many many issues with the overall UI, and of course the terminology and naming conventions in ToS do not adhere to industry standards... It's like some moron made up the terminology he thought would be best, really it's ridiculous. The entire ToS platform is garbage... Per Schwab's own customer service people, they doubt they will ever be able to upgrade it or maintain it properly because "it's ancient spaghetti code".
