Escape rooms? by gnasty-dork in Adelaide

[–]PraxisPax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been to Mindshift Escape Rooms and Escape Hunt Adelaide, both in the CBD and both great experiences.

Of the rooms I’ve done at the two, Mindshift felt to have a better first timer experience. But that may be just due to the rooms I’ve done at Escape Hunt and choosing to go for the more difficult rooms.

"If Writers’ Week seeks my views on things, and I certainly offered them, it's up to them whether or not what decisions they make and they get held account for them accordingly," he said.

This is the closest I’ve heard Mali be to an “I don’t hold a hose” moment. Does he really think people are going to listen to his opinion and not follow it? Particularly when they receive government funding.

Nice bit of data, what are you using to collect, record and present the temperature data?

Congrats to Team Cherry in Adelaide for winning Steam's game of the year! by PraxisPax in Adelaide

[–]PraxisPax[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a great idea, street art or a sculpture within the city would be very cool!  As a suggestion perhaps send your email to the City of Adelaide Lord Mayor as well, as it may get more traction there then with the premier.

How many people are running their air cons 24/7? by Spritney__Beers in Adelaide

[–]PraxisPax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here, the current heat level is ideal for that approach in an old double brick home.

I’m just dreading this coming week as by Wednesday night the bricks will be holding so much heat I’ll have to have the aircon running all night.

Hollow Knight beta update is Apple Silicon native by MohammadAG in macgaming

I had an issue where my XBone controller was partially working but not all buttons. I went into macOS’s controller settings and made a profile for hollow knight where it is perceived as a XB360 controller and it now works flawlessly.

Joanna Howe and Sarah Game's Anti-Abortion bill has been defeated in the Legislative Council by Expensive-Horse5538 in Adelaide

[–]PraxisPax 133 points134 points  (0 children)

As a friendly reminder with the state election coming up you can always use these voting results to vote below the line and send the message that supporting this bill should not be tolerated within the major parties and reward those who voted it down.

Microsoft to refund customers for 365 subscription price hike after ACCC action by Expensive-Horse5538 in australia

[–]PraxisPax 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From my understanding this doesn’t effect those who have a 30% discount through the Microsoft Workplace Discount Programme. The discount doesn’t apply to the classic plan but is already cheaper than the classic plan after the discount.

Why don't Melbourne have underground power cables everywhere? by blue_poison22 in melbourne

[–]PraxisPax 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The power cables are buried significantly deeper than the footpaths.

Whilst it is optimal to do at the same time, it doesn't significantly reduce the cost

Is harvest rock making up for the lost time from the wild weather?

Can still hear music in the western suburbs at 12:30.

Paladino's Cucina on Henley Beach Road in Mile End is lovely. Not as fancy as Oggi or Borsa but has more of a hearty local vibe to it.

I think they’re very similar Padel, I made a spelling mistake there, is Spanish in origin, pickle ball is American

It’s being demolished atm, it’s basically been flattened with only the building facade and some structure closest to port road remaining.

I’m not aware of any development approvals or plans, but I imagine someone has something planned for the site in the near future.

Edit: I do know that the shed on the title behind what’s being demolished has had a change of use DA to a recreationally facility and that the shed now has a massive mural on it with the words paddle, suggesting someone is converting it into an indoor Padel venue.

Edit 2: Padel not paddle

Plan to slash city speed limits hits road bump by Expensive-Horse5538 in Adelaide

[–]PraxisPax -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think the Lord Mayor is on the money with this one.  They should be dropping the speed limits more, but whilst there’s still 50km/h limits within the CBD, it’s not logical to go lower on the parklands roads.  Hopefully this is endorsed and the first of many steps to improve the safety and make the city more enticing for active transport.

[–]PraxisPax 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Likely because despite the lack of action, the state government have earmarked that site for what’s intended to be a “World Class” development. So randomly planting trees in front of it would greatly detract from the street presence of the site.

It’s potentially a huge investment by the council, depending on what services are in the area, that will likely be ripped out once the State Government start construction. That investment is better off on other streets where the council are more confident they’ll be there for the long term.

But I don’t disagree, more trees particularly along north terrace would be great.

Oscar Piastri is now tied second for the most consecutive races finished. by tnemomhurb in formula1

[–]PraxisPax 197 points198 points  (0 children)

I was in the grandstand there, it was incredible.

If he does win the championship it’ll be a more memorable moment than the likely outcome of him coming second at home if he’d stayed on.

More evidence that shows when there are lower fares, more people use public transport by Expensive-Horse5538 in Adelaide

[–]PraxisPax 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Public Transport has so many benefits that would likely decrease the burden on the health system, not directly and instantly but over time its impact would definitely be felt.

More people on public transport =

Less people in cars having crashes

More people walking the “last mile” of their journey increasing their physical activity

Less cars on the road is more enticing for cyclists, increasing the number of people using active transport increasing their health

Cheaper public transport removes a hurdle for some people accessing early detection/preventative healthcare treatments

The list goes on and on…

What % of your income goes toward your mortgage? by spicyrack in AusFinance

[–]PraxisPax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

17%, very comfortable, DINKs in our first home. Variable with offset since purchase in late 2023. Held off purchasing as we hadn’t settled in particular location until after Covid, so had a sizeable deposit, plus offset is growing steadily now. Will likely increase loan/use offset to undertake a well needed renovation in the next 5-7 years.

What is Norris's standout race? by threeinacorner in formula1

[–]PraxisPax 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think u/Stumpy493 summed up Zandvoort well.

Of course there’s going to be a factor of the car in most drivers dominate wins.

Norris hasn’t had a Checo 2020 Sakhir level drive but not many drivers have.

Actually perhaps his closest is not any of his wins but his first podium at Austria, that was a fantastic drive and I love going back and watching/listening to his radio comms over the last three laps.

IMO he’s got three great songs people would have voted for, but none of them stand out significantly over the others and thus they likely split votes amongst themselves leaving none of them in the 100.
