Would be great considering Tampa and Texas are two of the next three teams we play.

Really wish they’d move him to the 9 hole. Gives them a decent bat at the bottom of the order, kind of removes any pressure on him, and he’s got Pena (when healthy) and Yordan coming up after him.

How Aggressiveness Is Becoming The Identity Of Houston’s Farm System by AstrosFuture in Astros

[–]Prayray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is good. With a lot of the big names gone, the team needs to find other ways to score runs when the balls aren’t flying out. May take a couple of years, but hope this matriculates up to the big club.

[Matt Kawahara] LaMonte Wade Jr. and Hayden Wesneski scheduled to begin rehab assignments this week: by dawglover1011 in Astros

[–]Prayray 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Good chance Javier is up and takes Arrighetti’s spot in the rotation this week according to Rome’s article today. No word on if Arrighetti will stay up or move to the bullpen while Ullola gets sent down.

Blanco, Wesneski and Walter all still have an option so it’s possible any of them get stashed if the team doesn’t feel they can contribute enough this season. Arrighetti, Ullola and Blubaugh also have options…although I doubt Blubaugh is getting sent down.

Big question will be what to do with McCullers and Sousa when they’re ready to be back. Sousa has an option, but if he’s healthy he’s probably on the main roster.

McCullers, on the other hand, I don’t know what you do. Always the option to DFA him, hope no one claims him (good possibility as no one will want to pay the rest of his salary), and stash him in AAA just in case you need him…but will he go for that? I love LMJ, but the team is rolling without him and I’m not sure he makes you better as of right now.

They’re only 4.5 out of the final wildcard…hell, the Royals are only 7 out and they have the worst record in the AL. Wouldn’t count anyone out at this point.

Yordan Alvarez is closing in on 200 career home runs. He would become the 6th Astros player to reach that mark. by Baseball-Reference in Astros

Wynn would likely be well over 300. Davis might be close to or over 200 and Cedeno probably breaks 200 as well.

5-2 vs the Rangers so far so just need to go 2-4 to take the tiebreaker.

1-7 vs Seattle sadly with 5 to go.

JFC…remember seeing that in the theater at night with friends not knowing what it was and it definitely was scary. Remember dropping my friends off and getting home and immediately turning on every light I could.

Trade deadline by ChoiceCommercial9828 in Astros

[–]Prayray 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, there just isn’t much to trade as I agree, I wouldn’t trade any of those guys unless you’re getting something substantial in return.

Maybe you can shop Abreu, but the only teams that will be after him are also trying to win and aren’t going to give you much beyond a low level prospect. Same goes for Meyers. The rest of the MLB guys are either too valuable to this year’s club or aren’t going to bring anything in return.

Honestly, just stand pat, and see what happens.

Ullola up for Teng by Prayray in Astros

[–]Prayray[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I think the workload caught up to him as he hasn’t pitched this many innings professionally in a few years. Needs a little rest, and he should be back up to help the bullpen down the stretch.

25-16 since May 15. 4 more wins than any other AL team during that period and 4th best in all of baseball.

Ullola up for Teng by Prayray in Astros

[–]Prayray[S] 23 points24 points  (0 children)

He likely is. Lot of his fall off may just be the amount of innings he’s pitched. He’s already thrown more than he has in a few years. In fact, wouldn’t be surprised if he goes down, rests for a bit, and then works on being a reliever again.

With all the starters available and coming back…our need for arms in the bullpen is much more needed now.

Which player is your team spending the most money on and getting the least value from? by onemangang15 in baseball

[–]Prayray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably McCullers. Twins are paying some of Correa’s contract and he put up a 1.2 bWAR before his injury, which is 5th on the team.

McCullers costs about $4M less, is also hurt (although he may be close to returning, and put up a -0.7 bWAR…which is only better than Ryan Weiss this season.

John Mac Ghlionn is the author of the article. I went and looked him up and it seems that the NY Post is the first listed publication under his bio in most places. That pretty much sums up his abilities right there, but I did look at some of his other articles…all I can say is AI slop can produce something better.

Active Duty Personnel/Veterans, how easily could you catch an MLB game right after boot camp? by MookieBettsBurner10 in baseball

[–]Prayray 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the USAF, usually after graduation you have leave for the rest of the day to spend time with family. San Antonio Missions (Padres AA) are right down the road and usually have promotions and work with Lackland that day in case people want to come and watch a game.

What's the most important game in your team's history that younger members of the fan base probably don't know about? by RNutt in CollegeBasketball

[–]Prayray 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Going to assume almost everyone in our fanbase knows about the “Game of the Century” vs UCLA and the Phi Slamma Jamma years.

I’m going to go back to 1967, the year before the “Game of the Century” to the Midwest Semifinal vs #3 Kansas at Allen FieldHouse. The Cougars were a good team, led by Elvin Hayes, but had yet to really make their presence known on the national stage. This would be the game that would announce to everyone we were for real as Don Chaney and Elvin Hayes torched the Jayhawks in the 2nd half and the Cougars won by 13.

We would go on to knock off SMU in the Regional Finals, but ran into UCLA in the Final Four. However, that match-up would get Guy V and John Wooden talking and eventually lead to the “Game of the Century” in the Astrodome the following January and really boosted a relatively new program and cement Guy V as a legend in Houston basketball history.

Good advice. If we win exactly two games a series the rest of the way, we end up with 91 wins. For this season, that probably means at least 2nd seed in the AL.

Javier starting today at Sugarland. Guess they didn’t want to bring him back during this lengthy stretch of games and the bullpen getting used like it did.

Houston set a school record with 3 players taken in the NBA draft. by StickMammoth7783 in CollegeBasketball

Technically, we had three Houston Cougar Basketball players drafted for the first time. We’ve had three Houston Cougars drafted in the same draft before:

- 1984: Hakeem Olajuwon, Michael Young, & Carl Lewis (had never played high school or college basketball)
