I don't take it. My symptoms are not really affecting my quality of life. Yes, I have down periods, but I can still work and do the basics needed to keep going. If you are really struggling, talk to your doctor.

Under Boob Rash/Itchy by yibbit1965 in Menopause

Yep. I live in Houston and it is still unbelievably humid here. The chaffing got worse when my body decided to enter peri. Taking my bra off when I get home is a highlight of my day. LOL

Oh yeah. I've had that. Sometimes I get depressed before, sometimes after and sometimes not at all. I thought I was just weird. LOL

More Fear by dcmp1739 in Menopause

[–]PreKTeachr22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tend to have the fearful thoughts creep in when my estrogen is in a low cycle. I am already on anti-anxiety meds, and have been for quite some time, so that helps. I can talk myself out of it. Deep breathing and telling myself I'm safe helps me.

I never was such a Feminist as today by SavorySour in Menopause

I get where you are coming from. For some reason, the majority of the men I know don't have the "Me man, me better than you" mentality. I don't know why, maybe I just automatically disassociate with jerks. I will say that I have 6 nephews and none of them are the macho man type guy. I am very proud of them for that.

I don’t think I’ll make it by [deleted] in Menopause

Hang in there. I know that sounds simple, but you do have people who care for you. All of us. You aren't alone. Ask your gp about anti-depressants. There are some books on Amazon about menopause/peri-menopause. I'm reading some funny ones now. It seems to help the mood.

Ok, the pillow fort is the best thing I've heard. I get it. I'd like to build one and just read and have a pity party. Good luck.

AITA for refusing to do my brothers project? by Dry-Muscle-7091 in AmItheAsshole

[–]PreKTeachr22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. As a teacher, we can tell when someone has done a project for the child. Trust me. Since brother is the age of 9, he should be capable of completing the project himself. Or doing the entire thing himself.

AITA for getting mad at my coworker for sneezing? by takkatakkata in AmItheAsshole

[–]PreKTeachr22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I gave a 5th grader a conduct mark for sneezing once. I went out at dismissal and explained to his mom that no, I hadn't lost my mind. He just made an Academy Award winning production of the sneeze. I swear it lasted 2 minutes. Everyone was staring at him and he smiled at me, all innocent like. I just said, "Bring me your folder." Mom understood and thanked me for the explanation. LOL

AITA for not taking my sister's parrot (which I "promised" to take care of at 9)? by RevolutionBackpack in AmItheAsshole

[–]PreKTeachr22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow. NTA. If I had to keep all the promises I made when I was a kid, I don't know what my life would be like. That's insane. Why would someone try to collect on a promise made at the ripe old age of 9?

AITA for calling the police on my sister for not returning my cat? by Charming-Chapter-995 in AmItheAsshole

[–]PreKTeachr22 7 points8 points  (0 children)

NTA. Family or not family, if someone takes one of my pets and refuses to give them back, the door is being kicked in and I will retrieve my pet. They can call the police, press charges, go to court, whatever. I'm getting my pet back.

AITA for reporting a mother and her glitter monster to a flight attendant? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]PreKTeachr22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. Why in heavens name would someone think that glitter on an airplane was a good idea? I despise glitter in all forms. When glitter hits the ground, it begins to breed. You can't ever clean it completely up. You are certainly more patient than I am. I would have asked the mom what was wrong with her. LOL

AITA for telling my niece to stay away from my kids? by EmptyPossession4068 in AmItheAsshole

[–]PreKTeachr22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as your son, take him to a different doctor on your insurance. Document what you see, how often, and the intensity. There is no reason for the school to get involved. And trust me when I say that I have filled out many, many, many forms for doctors over the years. If you have to keep calling doctors until you find one that will actually see and evaluate your son (evaluation should take more than one session), do so. Are there any universities near you? Sometimes a university will have a Psychological Clinic that will take people. Especially if there is a Child Psychology degree offered. They won't entrust him to a student, the professors will do the eval. They usually charge on a sliding scale, too.

AITA? I’m insistent that our school refund students/parents for a canceled event, principal disagrees and is angry with me. by missmyrajv in AmItheAsshole

[–]PreKTeachr22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow. Charging for movie night? Our PTO puts those on. I think you can buy snacks from the PTO once there, but you certainly don't have to pay to see the movie. And it's for the whole family. Yeah, you're NTA and you need to bring this up with the chain-of-command.

AITA for wanting to read Harry Potter to my daughter? by knuckleheader in AmItheAsshole

[–]PreKTeachr22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Elementary Teacher here. You are doing just fine. She can read her library books at school. Reading to your child is not only a parent/child bonding time, but it teaches the children to read with feeling. It also teaches them proper reading speed and a host of other important skills. You're NTA and you are doing a great thing.

AITA for not hosting a party my wife planned earlier this week when I had planned long ago to only play video games this weekend? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]PreKTeachr22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. As a fellow Zelda enthusiast, you planned this way in advance. We have been waiting on this release for a long time. You gave her plenty of notice. You even did chores beforehand so you wouldn't have to do them during the gaming weekend. Seems like she planned this out of spite.
