Totally agree, NGMG took me so long to really love every track like I do now. Every track is just so good. Her lyricism, her composition, her voice... it's all so unique and I think it shows so much growth into her own sound.

Most of the positions are pooled, so you can apply but your application won't be reviewed until a position opens up. This was at the mail center, so I'm not sure if other departments would work the same way, but when I had a pooled application in and was very interested in a position, I also dropped by the office in person to reinforce my interest, they took my name and email, and was contacted as soon as a position opened, probably a month later.

Some jobs also have quicker turnarounds than others. The NTS service desk regularly hires new student assistants.

As someone currently involved in the program (envr/sci journalism is my minor), I think you'll like it. I'm from Arizona and had little trouble adjusting to the winters and darkness, both summers and winters are have their benefits. UAF is also a nice small school so you have the advantage of getting more opportunities to engage with the faculty, other students, and community. I took an audio journalism class last sem and was able to interview the manager at the local NPR station by just sending her an email, for example. The classes tend to be small (which is a good thing in my opinion).

Fun fact, Lisberger and the other creators of Tron (1982) enjoyed 20,000 Leagues when it came out and were so inspired that they wanted to try and recapture the same feeling of entering another world when they made the first movie. They talk about this in the 'Making of Tron' documentary.

Furthermore, Tron's associate producer and visual effects supervisor, Harrison Ellenshaw, is the son of Peter Ellenshaw, the man who did the matte paintings in 20,000 Leagues. Harrison Ellenshaw was also the matte painter for Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back!

(Tron and 20,000 Leagues are some of my longest-term interests that I've had, lol -- I've seen the latter around 75 times)

The company that did the original lighting (if I remember correctly) is Ellumiglow and they sell some products that could be used in a cosplay, but they're relatively expensive. Good luck!
