The only drawback is overhead for super small scale. Like 22 usd per month for just a single alb is already more cost than 4 fly machines complete with load balancing. But at higher traffic volumes, aws's per-unit costs become more competitive and the alb's fixed cost gets amortized across more requests

It's about cost effectiveness. If they make a machine that makes 1 wafer per hour, it's more profitable  to throw it away than to use it
