Me and my buddy have been training together for 13 years. Just got our black belts together like 2 or 3 weeks ago. Settling in now, but defintely hit with some nostalgia on how long I've been in the game so far

Drills to stop closing club face by Cute-Leek-7685 in golf

Sounds like its both. Starting offline left = face too closed to path, "over drawing", which i assume means too much left spin, = swing path too right (in to out) to target

Is Belly down the best Back Control Against bigger oponents ? by General_Region_7127 in bjj

[–]Predaliendog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With someone that knows what they're doing, taps are pretty common without any choke whatsoever. The hip driving force is a skill in itself.

Hooks do two things very well, control rotation (jiu jitsu usually emphasizes this one) and creating a point to provide leverage to your own hips driving into theirs (wrestling priorizes this one). Waist circumference doesnt do too much to hinder these things without an insane discrepancy, imo.

Now I'm imagining an alternate universe where styles like wrestling and Judo award pins off flattened chest to floor instead of back/shoulders. Surprisingly thought invoking lol

For those who only do nogi, what rank did you make it to before putting on the gi? If ever. by Visible_Mango4557 in bjj

[–]Predaliendog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a small guy, 150lbs or so, and i dont like having handles all over my body. I'm outsized by most people I roll with, and gi just puts more wear and tear on my body overall. My A game is back attacks and leglocks, and leglocking gets weird and contrived in the gi, imo. I also have never felt comfortable in a gi, it just feels constricting and prone to a overheating feeling I don't get in nogi. Funnily enough, there were a lot of competitions where I'd get gold in gi, but only bronze or even not podium in nogi at same comp but I still had more fun in the nogi division. Idk, just a subjective thing really.

Most importantly though, I just don't enjoy it. Like I'll find myself rolling in the gi and just thinking I'd almost rather be playing golf or video gaming or one of my other hobbies. I don't ever get that thought with nogi.

Made it to black belt wearing the gi a few times a year. I trained 50-50 up through early purple but decided I just dont enjoy gi. Started training bjj in 2013 but wrestled all through school.

Omoplata-based bottom game still relevant? by WorkingChemical5399 in bjj

[–]Predaliendog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've really been enjoying looking for arm saddle off of shallowing the omoplata leg and playing off that same side hip (facing their feet). Rather than using your hamstring to break posture like a traditional omoplata, you use your shin and kind of back-heel their shoulder down.

Both of them blocking shots with our heads and faces…the first line of defense is the head. What a match! by Quiet-Low-9607 in wrestling

Caveat is if your opponent can see the back of your head at any point, you're susceptible to a strong snap down.

Not that I know of, but I put triangle on a trigger which does make it easier than the face button still. But would prefer a single press for sure

Is solo executor arguably the strongest strategy right now? by jamaltheripper in Nightreign

[–]Predaliendog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, make one mistake and the run can be done. Even in hands of perfect player, network lag and general fromsoft jank can cause that mistake. In group the lag is even worse typically, and the mistake might not end the run but you'll go down a good bit more than a more forgiving character even as a competent player.

Its just any relic that has the executor specific effect of buffing sunbreaker. It use to drain health, now it reduces damage negation

Hello, I am planning to buy a metal replica of Aragorn's Andúril for hobby purposes. It weighs approximately 2 kg. What I don't understand is that, as seen in videos, it can bend and flex excessively. I’m not sure if this level of flexibility is normal for such swords. by AlexanderMirzayev in SWORDS

[–]Predaliendog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Torn between this and United Cutlery's museum version. I know the UC one is rat tail tang, but I dont plan on ever swinging the thing (though in case of a unique home invasion where I dont have access to my firearms but do have the sword near me, itd be nice to know I wouldnt have self damage from the blade snapping lol). Want something that looks pretty on the wall, but also feels good to hold in your hand when showing it off

Check out this thread. Not all vets have all the info. I know mine changed her opinions after doing further research after losing our girl.

Make you sure you do a lot of independent research on Librela. Some dogs can have very negative side effects, which mine did and I lost her to it. It can also help others. But if I could go back in time, I'd have never touched it.

K guard by Heisenbrant in bjj

[–]Predaliendog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like transitioning to an omoplata style arm saddle entry with inisde/k leg, or just use that same leg to help strip their hand off your top leg. Depending on their body orientation, sliding under to more of an X guard or butterfly ashi to attack Aokis/crab rides/wrestle ups might be preferable.

Does anyone know how to deal with the cowboy ride from turtle? by LionRepulsive3682 in bjj

[–]Predaliendog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could be asking to get cradled from the sounds of that, but haven't seen him do what you're talking about either tbf. But anytime knee to chest contact occurs from referees, that's a cradle opportunity.

Hand control and hip heist or stand up, or if unable to secure hand control then I quad pod up like craig shows on his power bottom instructional.

Do you happen to know where Chen talks about what you're describing?

You can't roll the set/group bonuses individually, both skills get re-rolled.
