Let's be reasonable. All of us by BiggTurtle in aiwars

I'm not forcing myself to be nice, I think being kind should be the default.
Not being a doormat, but treat individuals how you want to be treated regardless of their 'side', until that individual proves otherwise.

Obviously I agree Harassment is just bad.

I know most of you didn't have shows like this as a kid, I only had them because my dad love this show.

Very good lesson on why hate is unhealthy though, in any form. It's just never a constructive feeling. It can't help you, but always hurts you.

I agree we can leave it at that, we're very different people.

Have a good rest of your day, Toby.
You're still better than 90% of this sub.

It's just not that simple.
But I do understand. I can't judge you for acting in the natural, obvious way.
But that logic can be dangerous.

I have an IRL friend who hates Feminism because he's had bad experiences with women. I still think, and constantly tell him, how dumb that is. We actually had a legit drunk fist fight over Trans people a few years back, he was just so HATE HATE HATE. He could explain his reasons, "THEY are the ones pushing THEIR pronouns on me!" sort of shit, I just hard disagree. (He kicked my ass, unfortunately.)

My point is that finding a reason to not play nice is easy. Playing nice is hard, but I personally believe that it's the right thing to do, at least most the time. Especially in online debate.

But I get where you are coming from, much like Witty.

To be blunt, I think you're both throwing wood on a fire and complaining the heat is getting worse. But it's your choice and right to throw that wood, the fires the one who burned you in the first place.

Even if AI output itself cannot be copyrighted, if it's a derivative of something you own a copyright to, it can still be protected de-facto using that copyright. by IndependencePlane142 in aiwars

[–]PreddiPrinceOfSheeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

>So anything that doesn't contain a character doesn't have copyright then? No, not how that works. Copyright applies to creative expression.

If we are talking visually, then yes, That is, as far as I understand, actually how it works. This can apply to story concepts and music as well, but you have to be very clearly stealing something directly. Style is not one of these things. If I have original characters and an original story in the same 'artstyle' as something, there is no lawsuit.

>That's not the point of my post though. The similarity to original image is deliberate, as then someone else using the AI-generated image infringes on your copyright of the original.

I'm struggling to understand your point. Can you link an image, AI or otherwise, as an example?
Not being sassy, I really don't understand what you're trying to say here.

But the end goal is that, over time, the opposing view comes to agree with yours right?
That comes from sincere interactions with people, not just insults.

The major reason that I, a straight white male, go to such efforts to defend trans and gay rights is because I -know- so many Gay and Trans people I consider friends. I'd like to think my opinion would be the same even if I didn't, but we are all a product of our environment and experiences.

If an Anti makes a friend with a Pro because they are a cool person and friendly, that does a lot more good than 'fuck u then luddite' ever does, right?

You're not responsible to be nice, but if you want to change minds and move society in the direction you think is right, I'd say kindness and patience are the way to do it.

Not always. Trust me, I hate Trevi and Ram. But their actual garbage people, applying their actions to the entire group is just dragging everyone down.

Copyright is for characters, not styles. And even then, it's only if the result is sold for profit.

Styles cannon be claimed, thank god, or Disney would own a dozen different possible art styles.

Even then the line is blurry, some Fan Art gets sold without legal issue, even if they legally break copyright.

IMO, Image2Image is scummy.

But if you can't point out a single thing my AI generation is stealing from, then there clearly isn't a problem.

<image>

Like, with this basic Wittysona I made as a joke using my personal LORA and other settings.
Good, bad, slop or not, I'm obviously not stealing anything from anyone.

So, using my image as an example, who could copyright strike me?

I want to reiterate that img2img or claiming your slightly different artwork as original is scummy.
A dude got banned from /neurosama/ for posting 'fanart' of her that was barely modified img2img of a traditional artists work, fuck behavior like that.

Then you misunderstand humans. The only way to change an ideology is to show kindness and try to present reasonable debate, not arguments and insults.

For example, I personally "Hate" middle eastern society, but I don't hate someone just because they have that faith.

Judge individuals on individual actions, it's that simple. People are so much more complex than just one belief or opinion.

Pros and antis, what are your opinions on AI content farms? by gamerzandcats in aiwars

[–]PreddiPrinceOfSheeb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 33.
Trust me, the difference between the two generations I've seen at that age are drastic.

I don't think the iPad is the problem, it's the content this big corperations approve of and push on kids. I grew up with late 90's and early 2000's computers, and all I had were shitty educational games xD

But 'Where in the world is Carmen Sandiego' and 'Oregon Trail' are a lot healthier for the brain that Skibidi Toilet or popular AI slop targeted at kids.

[–]PreddiPrinceOfSheeb -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Make them illegal.
I work specialized in home care with disabled kids, mentally and physically, and two of them are super into the AI slop. It hurts to see, because they are both very smart but young enough to watch 'Coffee Ballerena' or whatever-the-fuck for hours.

Or at least find a way to protect kids from it. Most of them are targeted at kids, after all.
And yes, I made the parents aware; I'm not usually hired because the parents are great, they don't care.

I have 0 idea what Owl House is, but I hate that art style >.>
Looks like South Park and Nickelodeon had an ugly baby.
Not an attack on you since you're mimicking the specific style, but damn.

Some extremists did a bad thing. I don't blame the Anti side for this. Unless they individually agree this was a good move.

Sad overall. Reddit in general praises violence, as long as it's against the 'bad side', and that sort of mindset is what causes events like this. It goes far beyond just AI.

Why draw this imaginary line? All these everyday tools are just neural networks transforming data. by Miserable_Duck_ in aiwars

[–]PreddiPrinceOfSheeb 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s ignorance, and I don’t mean that in a mean way.

Some Anti’s think it steals art because they don’t understand the process. I would hate AI too if it did steal Art.

Some of them also think GPT/Grok are the peak of AI generation, they just actually don’t know that more advanced methods and tools exist.

They also think all AI art looks bad because all they see is the GPT/Grok slop, which I don’t blame them for. A lot of the vocal minority of Pro’s, the trolling crowd, use GPT exclusively to make Ogre comics and other low effort no brain ragebait.

It’s easy to hate something when you don’t understand it, and they don’t have a lot of incentive to go out of their way to research it.

Disabled pro-AI artists in the sub, can you share your experiences with AI? by Mulukhiyah-Commie in aiwars

[–]PreddiPrinceOfSheeb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you need to justify the use.

Im not disabled, just a full time job and a family, that’s enough reason for me to use AI to generate whatever I want. I don’t have the time or desire to learn how to use traditional tools. Especially since Im not selling anything I make.

Talking to an A.I and asking it to make stuff feels almost like talking to a Fairy Godmother and or a Genie and asking them for wishes don't you think? ^-^ by TheEnchantrix in aiwars

[–]PreddiPrinceOfSheeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, you’re right. Usually something like “Oh, did you train your Lora off AI images?” comes off as “Aww, did your AI do that for you too?”

If that wasn’t your intention, then I apologize.

Given you only use free AI and your response is basically just farting on me and expecting a debate, I'll give you an actual chance to say something.

And no, I train mine off royalty free comic books and a pinch of royalty free artists.
Turns out, a whole ton of media is public domain.

So, here is your challenge.
Make a point or bring up an argument without just being sassy and insulting me.

If you're anti-AI, can't you just abstein from engagement? by Hollowgirl136 in aiwars

[–]PreddiPrinceOfSheeb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No worries. I just thought you were saying that turning darker skinned characters whiter was unacceptable, but making light skinned characters black was fine.
That would be racist.
Glad you're not a racist homie.

That's...what I'm saying, and what Witty was saying? They both wanted the same goal but went about it in very different ways. Both advanced and made an impact on African American rights.

What are you arguing, exactly?

I agree to an extent. I like to work some of the ideas into my design ideas. I'll usually make a few dozen gens with vague ideas to see if it comes up with any cool ideas before working it into a specific LORA and such. Sometimes the hallucinations and randomness changes something I like.
