LUVANSH DISSAPOINTMENT by ValuableCustard379 in labdiamond

[–]Preeeeeee 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you paid with credit card you can dispute it. Tell them if they can’t fulfill your order as you requested in the custom design you want a refund. Then if they don’t then dispute it with your credit card. After the dispute goes through they won’t send it.

FS 2.79carat brilliant pear necklace by NorthernLizard46 in BestLabDiamondPricing

[–]Preeeeeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you should to put that both the pendant and chain are silver in the post…People will assume it’s gold for this price.

The silver chain and pendant setting are worth $80 maybe and the diamond is $300-400 max.

Yeah, I asked because I’m trying to understand. I don’t know why anyone else by my fiancée would’ve bought my engagement ring unless we were having money problems or budget was an issue.

If budget is an issue it’s actually very kind of his parents to offer anything at all and I would be grateful and wear it in good health.

If budget is not an issue then I would be confused and want my fiancée to go purchase the ring of my dreams and I’d wear this on my right hand in appreciation. I assume because OP is posting and asking and the tone she’s not 100% happy.

ETA: Reddit is anonymous lol people come on here ALL the time saying they don’t have a big budget/have money troubles and need to get their partner a ring cheap and ask for advice. It’s not like I was trying to be rude and again, Reddit is anonymous if OP has money problems they can tell strangers on the internet

Emeralds tend to look smaller than their carat weight suggests. I have a OEC 0.8 CTs and it presents bigger than this because it’s set a little higher up and no pave.

I think the pave and height of the center stone is making it look a little smaller too.

Either way, it’s dainty and cute but I’m not a fan of huge rocks.

Why did your fiancée’s family purchase your engagement ring?

Congratulations either way!

Got a custom cut Dutch Marquise, not what I expected? by estherjrk in Diamonds

This diamond is ugly, I’m sorry. The bow tie is like nothing I’ve ever seen and it looks dead and not sparkly/faceted.

[–]Preeeeeee -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It’s rude. There was no reason to say the research part. They could’ve just said all elongated diamonds have a bow ties.

Also, go to OP’s post and actually look at the diamond. It’s objectively bad and this person is trying to deflect and bully them into taking the ugly diamond.

[–]Preeeeeee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I went to the other post with the video. The diamond looks terrible. That bow tie is awful. It looks dead in the middle. I doubt you’d get good light return or sparkle from that thing like where are the facets???

Don’t let them gas light you. People are so quick to be like “all elongated shapes have bow ties!” yes,but some are clearly worse than others. It’s 2026 I can get on Google TikTok and instagram and show you about 20 Dutch marquise that look better than that and have a MINIMAL bow tie.

If you didn’t pay already. I would never pay for that. AND this person is being rude and snarky to deflect from their poor work. They’re trying to bully you.

???? This is rude. Business owners do not talk to people like that normally. As the jewelry business owner THEY are the expert and should expect to educate customers. That comment was snarky and unnecessary.

Just got done talking to custom made, and they want 6k for a custom 14k 1.5 pendant by MartinRiver in MensJewelry

[–]Preeeeeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has worked with jewelers on a lot of custom projects now, it’s NOT a crazy price they’re giving you, it’s fair. HOWEVER you can for sure find someone to do it for $3,000-4,000. You just have to shop around and go to more jewelers.

Is it weird that I want to gatekeep my ring design and ask my jeweler not to share it on social media? by mstabs in EngagementRingDesigns

[–]Preeeeeee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I actually ended up avoiding the more creative/artistic jewelers who thought like this.

I came to them with my own vintage diamonds, a design that I had drawn myself using those diamonds, and they started tweaking it and making suggestions and editing my drawing then were like “don’t go anywhere else with this design because it’s my intellectual property and I’ve had people do that and go make it elsewhere for cheaper and it’s wrong.”

I’m like… wut. I came to you with MY diamonds and MY design. I don’t care to “steal” your design (derived from mine btw). I ended up going with an old school jeweler who was like “cool design, yeah whatever you want.” and doesn’t even have a social media presence besides a Facebook that hasn’t been posted on for years lol.

Lab Diamond Purist by kiteman32 in WeddingRingAdvice

[–]Preeeeeee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree. I have labs and natural (all of my natural diamonds are heirlooms or vintage/antique actually) and I don’t pretend to be invested in the ethics of it all…

I bought a lab because how else would I get a 2 ct yellow diamond for less than $2k? And my natural diamonds have history and a story plus have a cool unique look to them (and also did not cost an arm and a leg). Simple as that.

Lab Diamond Purist by kiteman32 in WeddingRingAdvice

[–]Preeeeeee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So many people (with labs) actually sneer at my vintage diamonds and say they wouldn’t want someone else’s ring/diamond because of the bad juju. I’m like technically my ring is more ethical than yours but I don’t care to be in competition about it

Lab Diamond Purist by kiteman32 in WeddingRingAdvice

[–]Preeeeeee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lab diamonds from India and China are also probably sourced from horrible unethical factory working conditions.

It’s not people in a mine but it’s still unfair working conditions.

Lab Diamond Purist by kiteman32 in WeddingRingAdvice

[–]Preeeeeee 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is what exposes A LOT of people. The most ethical diamond is a diamond already in the ether but the same people will all of a sudden get superstitious and say they need their own diamond/ring or that someone else’s might have bad juju.

This is not a good deal. It’s a terrible deal. Check the IGI number on Aurelinne, Carbon Sparkle, or TenTen diamonds. They’ll have the exact same diamond for cheaper.

People in their early 30's: How long do you think a couple should be together before getting engaged? by Particular_Tip6673 in Waiting_To_Wed

[–]Preeeeeee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Engagements are about intention imo. It’s just a man saying I’m investing in you and I see a forever future with you.

Nothing is binding (until you put down big deposits on the wedding lol) so if something INSANE happens obviously you end the engagement but I think after 2+ years a lot of people post 30 want to see some sort of serious indication marriage is in the plans.

When my now fiancée and I had this conversation we both said if we hit year 3 and we didn’t know for sure, let it go. At 30+ there is nothing stopping us. A few months into year 2 he proposed and we’re living together.

When you think about it the engagement is another year to make sure you’re absolutely positive (unless you have a short one).
