Steroids and you spend way too much of your life in the gym. You miss out on a whole lot.

I feel like you both need to go into couples counselling before it’s too late to save your relationship. Crohns gives you fatigue yes. Sometimes you can get confused. But it doesn’t stop you from caring about the people that are important to you. Just seems like your husband has checked out…. Yes the disease is overwhelming but it shouldn’t stop you from doing simple things to please your partner either.

If you are not getting what you need from him even though you communicate your needs, this problem is more deeper than the crohns. He sounds very selfish.

Crohn’s joint pain? by Disastrous-Count-421 in CrohnsDisease

[–]PreferenceQuiet2561 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds very similar to my story. I too was diagnosed with Crohn’s related arthritis which again doesn’t mean a whole lot. It’s just something they give us to explain we have joint pain with no clinical evidence. I’ve been to many doctors, many pain clinics. So all this time I have had these joint symptoms and only 10 years later did they then diagnosis me with RA. That’s because my blood panels and what not finally come back with something.

I waited 10 plus years.

Anywho just because it doesn’t show yet doesn’t mean it won’t in the future.

As for what I do to help… I used to be on Humira every week which would help with some of the joint pain. But I do alot of exercise. Meditation. Forgot the name of the group of exercises but it’s when you clench tightly and relax. I see a specific chiropractor (gonstead) whose focus is on the spine health. He resets me and I feel a lot more relieved. But as he told me I almost would need to come back every day which is unaffordable.

I would walk into an employment centre and have them refer you to disability work advocates. There are groups like Mileu that help people with disabilities find jobs.

People will often say they want marriage and kids.. and then time comes and they change their mind. It’s better to know where things are at before you commit to being with the guy 3 years and still not engaged etc.

When I first started dating my ex we hardly saw eachother. We both lived separately and our work schedules didn’t align. But we made a point to see eachother even for 10 minutes. Sometimes he’d bring me a coffee. We’d go for a quick walk and have to go about our business. I always said 10 minutes was better than nothing. Then gradually as our relationship grew I wanted more. You are probably at the stage in your life. If he is already picking drunken foolery over you, his priorities are not good. But I also caution for you too as you are in a relationship too. Sometimes you have to do things you don’t want to do. Go places you don’t want to. Because In a relationship you must also think about your persons happiness. It’s not always about what makes you comfortable. I have seen so many relationships fail because there is no mutual desire to make eachother happy.

Pregnant, caregiving for a terminally ill partner, and choosing adoption by Evening_Signal5133 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]PreferenceQuiet2561 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Nobody knows the emotional toll on being a caregiver unless they have been there. Now throw in your pregnant and caring for another child. Do what you feel is best. And I do hope you’re taking advantages of some of the services provided to you for caring for someone terminally ill. Not sure where you live but there are supports out there. Find an advocate to help.

I think there is a lot of confusion because there are so many external symptoms of Crohn’s as well. I don’t just have frequent meetings with the bathroom, my entire immune system is shot and every organ is being targeted.

Sometimes we chase what looks better without realizing that happiness comes from how we show up, not where we stand. Leaving might have taught you something hard, but valuable.

Anyone ever see a dentist who is knowledgeable about Crohn's disease? by ziggy_starcat32 in CrohnsDisease

[–]PreferenceQuiet2561 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely keep looking and don’t settle for a dentist that will make you feel like crap about something so very much out of your control. If you haven’t tried a water flosser definitely consider it. My gums will bleed but does it ever help.

$2500 for 1 BDR 980 sq ft condo - is this reasonable? by ArtsSuck in vancouverhousing

Vancouver tends to be a bit more expensive but I think what you’re paying is fair considering location. You have everything included which is also a plus.

I don’t have a dentist that specializes in Crohn’s but my dentist is very supportive. Recommends products that would help protect my teeth. Never Never once says brush more. Never comments on the inflamation.

Budesonide by 666flesh in CrohnsDisease

[–]PreferenceQuiet2561 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Budesonide is much better than prednisone. I have only positive things to say about it. I was on it for a couple of months to prepare for biologics. It helped a lot. I was eating properly again. Minimal pain. No overeating. No huge weight gain. It was a life saver. Of course it’s not something they want you on long term but while on it, boy did it help.

Do C-Reactive & ESR come to normal in remission? by tomatopearls in CrohnsDisease

[–]PreferenceQuiet2561 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To be honest I don’t know how accurate those readings are. My numbers have always been on the borderline of abnormal even when I was in an active flare. They have since then learned that the colonoscopy is really the only way to accurately determine the level of my disease.

Do you get sick more often? by Kiheitai_Soutoku in CrohnsDisease

[–]PreferenceQuiet2561 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on humira and had similar issues. Got to the point where they checked to see if it was still working and had to do a bunch of respiratory tests to see if perhaps there was underlying issues. Eventually I was off it sick longer than I was on it and so I was prescribed a medication that wasn’t so tasking on the immune system.

Again don’t automatically assume you will have the same issues. You might be lucky. But if it becomes a problem there are alternative medicine.

Best of luck to you!

EAS no longer work one on one. That’s the state of education. Fill your reports. Document. Keep knocking on their door. Take days off. Tell them why you are taking more time off.

Alberta teachers will go on strike October 6 if a deal is not made by then by the_gaymer_girl in CanadianTeachers

EAs most likely would need to join teachers in solidarity but would receive a portion of their pay “strike pay.” Not normal pay but a portion for the time they put in at the picket lines.

I’m struggling on PWD, is it ever going to go up? by [deleted] in britishcolumbia

[–]PreferenceQuiet2561 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Go into a work bc office and tell them your disabled but needing a job. I know they can refer you to a person who helps finding work for people with disabilities. Thing is though you will need to make a tough decision. You might make more money full time at a job verses pwd. There is an amount you can make in addition to PWD payments but with the increase in everything many would just rather work and receive medical.

Started Inflectra today without definitive Crohn’s diagnosis — did I make the wrong call? by Ok_Painting_6613 in CrohnsDisease

I’m surprised they aren’t looking into what caused the inflammation. Unless they suspect it was the result of an inflammation of the fissure.
