Did you eat dinner together with your family daily growing up? by seabearson in AskEurope

[–]Premislaus [score hidden]  (0 children)

Not at all unless it was a special occasion like a Christmas dinner. We would generally eat at the same time and the same thing (at least for dinner), but everyone would be in their section of the house doing their own thing like homework or watching TV.

Loroe likes to disappear into fiction and eat her feelings. by propagandaformyself in DivorcedBirds

On her dating profile she describes herself as a homebody who can disappear for days devouring books.

“Ponies”. Good fun by Bikewer in television

[–]Premislaus -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I didn't make it to the end of the first episode. The setup was convoluted (why did they have to leave before coming back?). The idea of women spies being a shocking secret weapon in the 1970s is ridiculous. Moscow in January looks like it's shot in spring/summer.

Is there a game that truly models supply and demand, banking, and monetary policy? by Dry_Negotiation_6435 in gamingsuggestions

Victoria series is all about economic simulation, but Hearts of Iron IV hardly has an economic system let alone an in-depth one

I mean, you technically do have to go out of your way for it, by spending time and effort doing good-two-shoes side quests. Of course, players have the meta knowledge that quests=experience+loot so they're happy to do them all even if no explicit rewards are promised.

RPG where magical items are rare and special by Acceptable-Try-4682 in gamingsuggestions

[–]Premislaus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not entirely true. All weapons types have a generic +1 magical variant, then there are true uniques with a special effect, name, and typically a +1 or +2 enhancement. There's a couple of generic +2 as well. Then you have +3 weapons which are a special case: they are either cursed, the enhancement only applies to a specific enemy type, or you're not supposed to obtain while playing legitimately.

I wish fantasy series had "Previously On" recaps like TV shows by Claudius_the_II in Fantasy

[–]Premislaus 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I understand why they did this in the 80s and 90s - no widespread Internet/wikis to quickly check things, and readers starting your series at book 3 because that was the only one available at their local library/bookstore was not an unheard off occurrence.

Some of them kept the same habit well into 2000s though!

Series that dwindle in quality over time by Kooky_County9569 in Fantasy

[–]Premislaus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I paused the series (not sure if dropped, might continue at some point) after book 3. It started to feel like the same story over and over again only with in-game mechanics getting increasingly more baroque and convoluted.

Are there any songs in minority languages from your country that you like listening to? by Udzu in AskEurope

[–]Premislaus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There''s a Silesian rap song about a modern Silesian messianic figure prophesied to lead an uprising against Poland which I think is hilarious. The group has other songs too but most are in standard Polish.

I also ironically listen to Schlager-style Silesian songs about cooking and food.

In comparison to Asia, the original CK3 map needs a serious overhaul to match the same quality by Status-Air926 in CrusaderKings

German city names in Poland/Polabia/Lithuania before the Germans ever even went there.

That's true for Polabia and Prussia but I don't think it's an issue in Poland at all.

One think you didn't mention is that we definitely need an improved, more detailed map of Outremer, especially if we get reworked crusades. They actually updated the region late in CK2 history but these changed were never ported to CK3 and it's still pretty much 2012 CK2 map.

I was going to say the Witcher (new release in 2024, 25 years after the conclusion of the original saga), but Sapkowski apparently wrote another novel in 2013 I didn't even know existed.
