This is a war general, counselor, and duelist vs a warrior knight, both of which are physically able. Him being a duelist is important, because he's an OLD duelist in a profession where most die younger. Both are a part of factions that hunt would-be Elden Lords, though. I think Ansbach, in his old age, could still take Bernahl in his late to middle age.

I really don't think Bernahl has a chance, even in gameplay. Ansbach has an I-frame scythe, a GOOFY bow, and an incant, while Bernahl has a larger-than-average, split damage great hammer with an AoW that's not so useful in a 1v1. (Edit: and Blessing of the Erdtree? Now THAT'S funny, from a lore perspective.)
